When our girl Lola was less than a year old, she had what was assumed, by us and our Vet, to be a soft tissue injury in her front right. It presented as intermittent limping, resulting from some rough puppy play. Since it was assumed to be a soft tissue injury it was managed with crate rest, leash walks, NSAIDs, Duralactin, supplements and body work. Lola would go for long periods without symptoms, but they would reappear from time to time, and we would return to managing them as described.
As one of our up-and-coming youngsters, with a possible show, field and multi-venue career, our goal was to finally have Lola make a complete and total recovery. Honestly, in the back of my mind I was concerned that more damage had happened, and her right elbow may not pass her OFA clearances. Sadly, I was correct and was told as part of her OFA x-rays and initial evaluation her growth plates in her right elbow were damaged and would never pass OFA.
Though it was a disappointment, our primary goal is to have her live a long and comfortable life, even though she is not a surgery candidate. Lola continues to receive supplements, Duralactin, monthly Adequan shots, Chiropractic adjustments, body work and now Swim Therapy, which she loves. She has also received Shockwave treatment with more to follow. She was briefly on Librela, but we discontinued it.
Lola has never let the issue slow her down or affect her playfulness or zest for life. We watch her to ensure she stays within her limits.

Tourney is an 18 month old Labrador Retriever recovering from a partical CCL tear treated with Stem Cell Therapy. She is learning to do figure 8's in the water which help to stretch her back muscles, while requiring her to use all her legs to maneuver. She has been making wonderful progress during her swim therapy sessions.
Swimming is an effective form of rehabilitation for dogs recovering from surgery or injury. It Improves flexibility, reduces inflammation, and strengthens muscles, aiding in post-surgical rehabilitation.

Lola says: “Come on over, I’ve warmed up the massage bed for you.”
Client Q&A:
Q): Do all dogs that visit your studio for Body Work have to use a massage table?
A): No. Not all dogs are comfortable on a massage table, but most smaller dogs do fine on the table.
We generally massage larger dogs on a dog bed unless they have massage table experience and enjoy it.
We have dog beds for any size dog if they are not comfortable on a massage table.
Like the table, the covers used on the bedding are changed and cleaned after each client.
