Lucie & Darby are here for training while their parents are on vacation for a couple weeks! If you were wondering if I take siblings pairs…. I do!! Having a set of siblings can be a lot of fun, however, with great siblings also comes great responsibility. Because most littermates spend nearly every second together since birth, it is extremely easy for them to develop separation anxiety between themselves. It can grow and escalate very quickly. Not only that but just like with children, they feed off of each other both positively and negatively. While I am not 100% against getting littermates, I do not suggest it to the majority of people. I myself have a pair of Rottweiler siblings and they have been fantastic together because when they were puppies, I separated them often and spent a great deal of time with each of them apart from one another. Having two dogs sounds easier because they wear each other out. While sometimes true, more often than not, they become twice the headache. Really do your research and think hard before getting two dogs from a litter. Unfortunately, most breeders will talk you into a second puppy. Don’t fall for it!
If you are thinking about getting two puppies, please feel free to call me so we can discuss the correct way to do so!
Thankfully, Lucie & Darby are fantastic dogs and have not shown negative behaviors because of being siblings. Their main vice is that they have a hard time focusing when around each other. We are doing off leash training and basic obedience with them over the next couple weeks. They have already made huge improvement and I’m very excited to see how much more they learn!! 🐶❤️
