Good morning! We're talking this week about starting your crops, plants, flowers off right by using worm castings and tea for germinating. At one time, using worm castings was really one of the biggest secrets when it came to growing amazingly healthy and productive plant life. However, today there are times that there are shortages of red wigglers from sellers that produce these best composting worms all over the country. This tells us that secret has grown into knowing that worm castings and tea are quite simply the most powerful plant energizing fertilizer and pest deterrent and soil conditioner found. Folks are realizing they can do their part in healing this earth.

So we have covered a few things on why you would consider using our products for your own plant life, let's talk for a minute on just how this works. We know of a few benefits thus far, but let's list these benefits.

- We know now that worm tea will not burn your crops or roots. Unlike other fertilizers, these are easy for plant life to tolerate. The nutrition has been pre-digested by the worms. This makes it immediately ready for plant use.

- Worm tea is rich in micronutrients. Worm castings that our tea is brewed from bring a lot of mineral content with them with a good NPK rating (5.5.3). Calcium, magnesium, copper and iron are just a few of the 60 odd micronutrients found in them.

We will stop here for now! Welcome to our new folks. We want to give a shout out to those of you sharing our page and info! We appreciate you! Now go forth and have a groovy day!

This weekend we restocked our worm tea at Sodus Feeds & Needs New and The Creator's Heart. We also refilled our beautiful Seed Library donated to us by our lovely Sodus Community Library. It continues to be at Sodus Feeds and Needs!

Good morning! We're talking about using worm tea to start your seedlings for germination. Let's just take a minute to talk about what worm tea is and why you would consider using it in this manner.

Once you plant your crops, garden, trees, flowers, anything plant life, know that the tea that is derived from castings contain rich in microbiological colonies that help fight soil-borne plant diseases and repel insects.

An analysis of worm castings reveals that they are rich in iron, sulfur, calcium, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium - the NPK rating being 5.5.3.

Worm castings are water-soluble allowing plants to quickly absorb essential nutrients and trace minerals. When the "p**p" passes through the worms digestive tract, it forms a coating around the grain which allows for the nutrients to "time release" into soil. Nutrients are readily available to plant materials over a greater length of time, and here's the thing...no matter how much you use (we know as we have a heavy hand), this will not burn even the most delicate plants or root systems.

Worm tea is much richer than bulk compost, so the application rates are much lower. Folks, chemical fertilizers are a one shot wonder. The plant life uses what is immediately available, and the rest leaches out into the soil beyond the plants reach. Chemical fertilizers are also the number one polluter of our waterways.

After you've planted your seeds or seedlings into your mixture, tea can then be used resulting in 100% organic spray that improves nutrition absorption. It will not burn your plants. This can be used as a spray directly on to your plants for immediate absorption, and/or applied a few times a month while watering.

Below are two pictures, one seeds germinated with water in a mix for seed starting, the next seeds started adding worm tea to the mix. See the difference.

We'll stop here for now. Welcome to our new folks! We're happy you're here and always remember to have a groovy day!

Good morning! We've talked about the fact that worm tea fights plant disease and that's one of the huge benefits of using it. Fertilizer, fights diseases, deters pests and ammends your soil. Our worm tea can be used to combat plant diseases and pests.

Worm tea applied correctly to your plant life to include veggies, flowers, bushes, trees, and lawns is an effective way to repel pests such as white flies, aphids, spider mites, Japanese beetles, squash bugs and the like. Any pest that feeds on plant juices.

Applying worm tea to your soil and plants increases the production of specific enzymes that we will go over later. Bad bugs that feed on the leaves of these plants and will absorb the enzyme. Worm tea also contains microbes that multiply quickly and help keep plant life healthy. Similar to us ingesting probiotics. Feeding your plants these bacteria rich nutrients gives them what they need to fight off bad pests.

That being said, we brew our tea with blackstrap molasses, which not only feeds the microbes, but brings in your pollinators.

That's all for today! Thanks for joining us. Welcome to our new folks and remember to have a groovy day!
