Saturday Small Business Interview with Country Luxe Co. Saturday January 11th.

We met Andrew (AJ), and Sophia, the creators and owners of County Luxe Co. when we worked the Lyons event for Julia from Doughface Dog Treats. We kept seeing so many folks running up to their booth, watching them get their picture taken with the people running the booth and thought what in the world are so many people so excited about over there? Of course, we had to walk on over and introduce ourselves and see what all the beautiful colors and wonder was about.

That is what we are here to share with you with this interview. These two are the most amazing people to just sit and talk with. We can’t wait for you to meet them – so let’s get started.

1. How and why did you start your business?

Well, we were both in a dating phase of our lives and we met on match.com. The thing they were both looking for was a strong friendship that might develop into a relationship. …and that it did.
After we got past the basics of getting to know each other, we would stay on the phone all hours of the night talking. Sometimes falling to sleep while we were talking. One night, about 3 am, I heard this knocking sound, and it was Sophia. She had had a dream that God told her she needed to make candles. Now Sophia, being the bright sunshine that she is, could not understand why she was told that God wanted her to make candles….she thought it was not as great of a job being handed to her! But, she got past that as the calling did not disappear. One thing she learned in her soul searching was that this was a way for God to be in every home, among other wonderful awakenings that they both had. So, they would meet for a date night and on these date nights, they started making candles together. Andrew did so much research on how to make the perfect candle as they wanted their products to be the best that there is. They were making these candles in Sophia’s little, tiny kitchen. They researched how to get the fragrances that they wanted. One of their biggest sellers is actually called “The Perfect Match”.

They developed 6 fragrances, learning along the way how to get the wick perfect, learning the cold flow and the hot flow. They took these to their work and asked their co-workers to test them – which one did they like, not like. Then, the ultimate test came when they made their own candles for their wedding.

Sophia is their marketer, and she is really great at what she does. They started doing markets and events. We do need you to know that they have great plans for the upcoming future, and you must get to know them and hear their love story.

2. What is the most important thing for you in your business?

People. Building relationships. They are true believers that their journey with their business is their way to minister to others. They are touching lives and building relationships and their community.

3. How did you come up with the name of your business?

Andrew is pure country. He grew up here in this area. He has ties to Sodus and Williamson. Sophia is a city girl. She is frill and lace and a ball of positive energy that is so easy to get captivated by. He is Country, she is Luxe.

4. What is the most unique thing about your business?

Our love story. So much of our lives we are all on the go. Our biggest desire is to remind others of a simpler life. The simplicity of country adding luxury that we all deserve. Capturing moments. The love of family and community.

5. What are you most excited about in your business?

We want to impact society. It all starts with each one of us. We are so excited about our future plans to add to our community. We are excited for what we can do for others. Moving in to becoming a staple in people’s lives. Enjoying the experience.

6. What is it that you most want people to know about your business?

That we are here spreading kindness. We love that others love our products, but at the end of the day, love is everything. The love of God. This is His love story.

It would be remiss to not mention that this busy couple also has Country Luxe Co. Farmstand, as they also believe in bringing the freshest, locally grown produce straight from our farmers to your table.

Where can people find information on your business?
We are on all social media platforms. FB, IG, Tic Toc, YouTube.
We have a website –

They will be at the Lyon’s Spring Festival.

As always when you get to meet these amazing folks let them know that the Worm Ladies sent you 😊.

Good morning! You've probably heard of worm tea by now, but you'd be surprised at how many folks that we meet that have never heard of it or worm castings! It's the product of adding water to your castings that makes a potent brew by adding black strap molasses and aerating it with a pump to increase the numbers of beneficial microbes in the liquid fertilizer this process creates. It's the best fertilizer, soil ammendment and pest deterrent that you can use!!

Known as "liquid gold", this natural, chemical free fertilizer, pest deterrent and soil ammendment is a magical elixir that provides billions of good microbes such as fungi, and helpful, nitrogen fixing bacteria to all of your plant life. Let's look at a few things that it can do as a fertilizer:

It will make your plant life big and strong. Everytime someone uses this they'll come and tell us how what they're growing grew so beautifully big and strong. This tea is a liquid supplement for plant life. By introducing a higher count of good bacteria to your soil, beneficial microbial activity is immediately kickstarted. Organic matter is then broken down more quickly, helping build a good soil structure that increases vital soil aeration, moisture and nutrient absorption and storage, healthier soil and ultimately boosts your harvest!

Welcome to our new folks and remember to have a groovy day!

Good morning!! We want you to know that the reason we focus on discussing worm tea when talking about any kind of soil or growing discussions. This is the area we specialize in. Our worm tea is derived from our beautiful castings. So, let's talk about what this is and how it works for new folks that have joined us since our last discussion on worm tea.

Technically, compost tea is where beneficial microorganisms are extracted from compost, humus or vermicompost (worm p**p). When provided the right food source, their populations effectively grow into the billions. There is research that states that the "bacterial population in 1 teaspoon of compost can grow from 1 billion to 4 billion in an aerated compost tea" Jeff Lowenfels from Teaming With Microbes. This is how we brew our tea. When compost tea is brewed, you are literally creating life by facilitating the population growth of diverse groups of microorganisms. High quality compost tea will have all of these organisms working synergistically in your soil to optimize conditions that facilitate nutrient uptake and plant health. Many of the nutrients in compost tea function as fertilizer for your plants as well.

Folks this is not something we're just talking about. We have years of experimenting and have experienced what worm tea can do for your soil and plant life. We have had total non believers having positive experiences with our tea. It's amazing to see what it can do in all areas you're needing help with.

Thank you for joining us and for sharing!! Remember to have a groovy day!

Good morning! Getting in to the nuts and bolts of what we love in talking about indoor cultivation- soil! First we want you to know that the bigger the pot, the easier it is for this plant to grow. Like others, when the plant has filled a pot with roots, it will need to be repotted to a bigger one so that the roots can grow again. The soil needs to be clean with a good texture that will determine the capacity to hold and drain water, which is one thing mixing castings will do. You will also need to have the right amount of nutrients (nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, etc), which is another added thing castings and tea will do. Do not use outside soil for indoor cultivation as you could be bringing in harmful parasites and insects.

Farmers are always searching for ways to optimize productivity. Larger yields, higher quality, ways to cut costs top the list of directives. H**p farmers are no different. In researching this industry and reading many posts on all of the sites we belong to, there seems to be an overuse of synthetic fertilizers with little understanding of the biological systems involved in nutrient uptake and disease control. Being new to the industry, many inexperienced growers overuse synthetic fertilizers, hoping that more nutrients means higher yields. All that happens is a massive salt buildup, that then leads to dead microbes, nutrient lockout, and a lot of flushing. Many also overdo synthetic fungicides without really targeting the "root " of the problem.

Over the last 20 years, worm tea has been clearly gaining attention as an important variable on organic and sustainable crop production. Anecdotal evidence, now coupled with considerable scientific research now proves various types of compost tea can suppress plant pathogens and diseases while boosting yields through microbial activity, effectively eliminating the need for hazardous chemicals.

This is what we've studied for many years on plant life. That's all for today!! Thanks for being here and remember to have a groovy day!!

Thanks Julia!

Good morning! We have mentioned that we wanted to talk about something we take a little more personal in discussing soil. Folks, from all the abuse of our lands, our soils have become extremely contaminated. In discussing foods, we have to look at the facts that contaminated soil passes toxins to our food and water. Fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides and fungicides pollute our waterways when they are washed off fields during rains and even through ground leaching. Chemical nitrogen fertilizers, for example, are one of the main sources of nitrogen pollution of surface and groundwater. Nitrate intake from drinking water has been linked to many many health problems.

Contaminants in soil accumulate in plant tissue to be passed to grazing animals, birds, and to us! These contaminants also reduce soil organic matter and its capacity to act as a filter that directly impacts the nutritional value of crops.

We could go on to get into many other reasons that it's time to do our part in creating a healthier soil that are just as important to our lives and our childrens future.

You might say well I can't change all of this... it's too big! We can do our part by creating our own healthy soil and educating others how to help their soil.

It's time we all dig in to help "make mama happy!"

That's all for today! Welcome to all of our new folks and remember to have a groovy day!
