Bent Creek Farm

Bent Creek Farm BCF is headed by Andria Pooley and offers training, coaching, clinics, horse shows, and more! "Horses want to be good.
(7)

They want to jump clean, they want to be soft and supple in dressage, they want to give you a nice ride. However, we as riders make this difficult for them sometimes. We must first educate the horse to think for him or herself, and then the rider. The best riders in the world use the most difficult riding technique in the world: do as little as absolutely possible.”

Hello all!

We are really excited for tomorrow! Here are the final ride times for tomorrow. XC immediately follows stadium (no rush). We are SO happy to have you! If you have any questions please text me at 319-430-3800.

A few important notes:

1. You must sign the waiver before mounting: https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/vdbaqftkwxh5zrndqvyjcu/web/

2. If anyone gets nervous and needs to drop down a level, it is absolutely no problem. Just text me :) We want everyone to have FUN and feel SAFE :)

3. Parking: If you have a trailer that is four horse or larger, please text me so we can plan for your arrival. If you have a small trailer and feel comfortable, please park in the south cross country field.

3b. There will be a SUPER cute cowboy parking you as you pull in (Andy). Please stop as you pull in and he will give you directions. He takes a lot of pride in this job, and we really appreciate him! It can be a bit of a puzzle to get everyone parked :)

4. Stalls are first come first serve if you previously reserved a stall. There are four available under the overhang of the barn and four outdoor stalls available along the north side of the arena. 1 bag of bedding is provided.

5. If we can make your experience better, more confidence building, or assist in any way, please let me know.
I can't wait to see you all tomorrow!

Hello everyone!

We are SO excited for the BCF Halloween show this weekend! I've attached tentative ride times. Please check these for accuracy and let me know what adjustments I need to make.

If you haven't yet, please fill out this waiver. You cannot ride until you fill out the waiver: https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/vdbaqftkwxh5zrndqvyjcu/web/

A few more updates:
Lunch will be provided to benefit S2S: This is a free will donation. There will be a few types of chili and mac n cheese as well as some sweets. We will have lunch ready around 11:30 in the tent outside the Arena.

Tack sale to benefit S2S: There will be a tack sale to benefit S2S located in the arena next to the show office. Everything is a free will donation. Also, we gladly take any tack donations you have, so if you feel inspired to clean out your tack room, bring it along!

Costumes are encouraged! We will have a parade of costumes in the outdoor over lunch at 11:45/12. If your costume is safe to ride in, you are welcome to wear it for your dressage test!

Campers: We are so happy to have you! Please help yourself to any fire pits, picnic tables etc.

Stabling: We are trying to accommodate everyone's stabling needs. I believe we have it covered :)

Additional information: Please check in at the office with Sarah and Sophia when you arrive to get your number. If you have any questions, we are all here to help!

A huge thank you to all the volunteers! We could not do this without you! We could still use a few more jump judges (no experience necessary), so let me know if you are able to help out!

We will be getting a new arrival fresh off the airplane for Portugal sometime mid-day, so please come say hi! He will be in a stall in the barn. His name is Pajao. Also, if anyone speaks Portuguese, definitely go say hi!

Ride a Test: I will send out ride-a-test times soon. We will run the ride a test from 8-1 on Saturday. Spectators welcome!

We’re so proud of Chloe and excited for this new venture for her! The horses are equally excited 🥰

To my valued clients & friends,

📢 I am thrilled to *finally* share my exciting news regarding the next chapter of my business! 📢

But first, I want to thank YOU all for your support! Your continued support has allowed me the opportunity to invest in my upcoming further education.

As part of my commitment to providing the highest quality bodywork services, I will be embarking on a comprehensive four-year intensive training in equine osteopathy.

Beginning in 2025, I will be deep diving into this specialized field to elevate my skills & education in supporting the health & well-being of our equine companions. This rigorous training will equip me with advanced techniques to address musculoskeletal issues, improve performance & promote overall wellness for our equine partners.

I can’t wait for this next chapter of my career!

FAQs:

▫️What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic approach that emphasizes the interrelationship between the body’s structure & function. Practitioners utilize manual techniques to address musculoskeletal issues.

▫️What material will you study?

Functional anatomy, physiology, neurology, biomechanics, pathology, osteopathic evaluation & deduction.

▫️Will this affect your schedule?

The impact on my work schedule should be minimal. I will be required to travel out of state multiple times per year (over the course of four years) for both theory & hands-on training, but I will do my best to accommodate clients around that.
