“The ‘Wizard of Oz’ movie and dressage… It doesn’t seem like there’s a connection, right? But maybe there is. Just like Dorothy following the yellow brick road with the companions she met along the way, I followed the ‘road’ to my USDF Gold Medal. And like the friends Dorothy found on her journey, I, too, was fortunate to meet many people along the way who lifted me up and helped make the dream of earning my gold medal on a 14.1-hand grade pony a reality!”

Our first recognized Working Equitation show is in the books! We started off the weekend strong with a 67.5% in our dressage test and a 69% in our Ease of Handling Round! On day 2, we improved our confidence in the dressage test and earned a 72.1% with a comment that we have the skills for L7 (highest level). We greatly improved our Ease of Handling but unfortunately a rider error on my part with my second side pass pole got us disqualified. We had a lovely speed round each day and ended with working cattle, which we’ve done exactly once before this weekend 🤣

Mayflower recap!

Jaantje (owned by Kris Robinson) and I danced through four harmonious First level tests for scores of 69.8%, 72.5%, 72.7%, and 73.3%! JJ has tremendous talent that has taken awhile to develop and I am excited to see what she can do the rest of the season!

Mister Maximus (owned by Maggie Bourassa) and I developed a great deal of confidence and fluidity in our Training level tests for scores of 65.6%, 66.4%, 69.2%, and 73.4%! Max is getting a hang of this whole dressage thing!!

First day of the show season is finished! Jaantje put down two solid tests showing much improvement from last year, earning a 72.7% and 73.3%! Mister Maximus worked on building his confidence and maintaining relaxation throughout his test, which earned him a 65.7% and 66.4%!
