Hi! It’s me, Cadi, the cutest puppy at the shelter. Could you please watch my video and share it with all of your friends?
Also, maybe you could come visit me this weekend. I would love to meet you!
Hi! It’s me, Motley, again! I wanted a chance to show you what a very good dog I am (and you may have noticed I’m extremely handsome as well.) I asked a friend of mine to take a short video of me so you can see for yourself!
If you would like more information or would like to meet me, you can call the shelter at 814-443-2121 or send a message to our page. You can also pick up an application at the shelter or print one from our website at somersetpets.com.
Don’t wait too long, I know my perfect someone is going to come see me soon!

🚨Attention pet lovers who are looking for their one and only soulmate🚨 Butch is wondering if you’d please consider giving him his forever home. Butches adoption fee has also been recently covered by a generous donor.
Butch has been with the shelter since January of 2023 and has been in his foster home for over 4 months. While he has a great set up away from his foster’s other animals, he would be even happier if he was in a house 24/7 with his people. Whether you’re going out for a walk or lounging around, Butch wants to be with you! He is great with kids too, he just has to be the only animal in the house.
We would love to see Butch get adopted within a month as his foster family will be unable to care for him for a period of time, and he will be too stressed out if he’s back in the shelter environment. Please consider giving these sweet guy a chance! He will make you so happy. 💕

Reyna went on Hike for Hounds on Sunday, and she had such a good time! She is a fun-loving girl that loves to be outdoors, going on walks and spending time with her human friends.
She came to us as a stray and we think she is around 3 years old and a hound mix. (Look at those ears!😁) She will need to meet any dogs or children that are in your family, but did well with the other dogs on the hike. We aren’t sure how she feels about cats.
If you would like to meet Rayna, please call the shelter at 814-443-2121.

Butch has been with us since January of 2023 and is still on the hunt for his perfect match since May of this year Butch was lucky enough to go home with his wonderful foster family while he waits for his permanent family! This is what his foster family has to say about him.❤️ Butch is one of those dogs that instantly establishes a connection with someone as soon as he meets them. From the first day we met him, we knew we had to take him home to foster him. He seemed very stressed out and weighed down in the shelter environment, and we saw how much he looked forward to being let out of his kennel for walks and human interaction, and we knew he would thrive so much more in a home. We were right; he has been the most loving foster dog. His skin issues are almost completely cleared up, and he has so much more energy and happiness radiating out of him. Unfortunately, Butch is kept to our garage because he cannot be around other animals. He has a full mattress to himself and a lot of space to roam around, and we take him out to walk and hang around outside with us as much as we can throughout the day, but he deserves a real home to be in 24/7 with his people. He would love someone who cuddles him and takes him out for walks while he carries his favorite toy in his mouth. Butch would really benefit from having a trainer so that he doesn’t react to other animals, and he is a dog that is 100% worth the time and money. He has so much love to give, and anybody would be blessed to have him as their dog. He will be so hard to let go of when he finally gets adopted, but we are so fortunate to be able to have his love for the time that we do 🖤

Meet Charley! 😍 Our dog of the week. Charley is believed to be a hound-corgi mix. He is around a year and ten months old and has been at the shelter for 145 days. Charley is a sweet boy who needs to be in a home with no other animals. He seems to like everyone but does take slightly longer to warm up to men. Charley loves to be outside and enjoys playing with his toys, specifically tennis balls. A meet-and-greet would be necessary with Charley and any kids he were to go home with as he seems to like all people, but we have never experienced Charley interacting with kids. For more information on Charley or to schedule an appointment to meet him, please call the shelter at 814-443-2121. 🐾
Meet River, our cat of the week! ❄️River is around three years old and is a spayed female who came to the shelter as a humane seizure. She has been with us for 405 days. River is one of our "Special Needs" cats; as she is blind, this does not seem to affect how River functions on a daily basis to much. At the same time, she will need some special arrangements when placed in a home, such as having lots of time to get used to her new surroundings and a relatively large and open space to live in with little to no obstacles, such as stairs. River is a very affectionate girl who would love nothing more than to be someone's lap cat and always welcomes being loved and petted. River would do best in a calm and quiet environment free of other animals and small children. For more information on River or to schedule an appointment to meet River, please give the shelter a call at 814-443-2121.☃️
Happy Friday Friends! 😊 We wanted to share our sweet girl Luna enjoying an evening hike, she even found a puddle to play in. Luna would love to find a forever hiking companion to go on adventures and play in puddles with. Luna is a 1 year old cattle dog mix, she is spayed and has been on the hunt for a home for 217 days. To meet Luna or for more information please call the shelter at 814-443-2121! 💕
Meet Zoro, our cat of the week!😍Zoro is an 8-month-old neutered male who has been with us for 272 days. Zoro tends to be timid but is sweet once he gets to know you. Zoro's ideal environment is quiet and low-key. Zoro likes to be the dominant cat and would be best in a home with more submissive cats. Zoro likes to play with his toys, take naps, receive love, and be petted. Zoro would do well in a home with older children, and how he would do with dogs is unknown. For more information or to learn how to meet Zoro, please call the shelter at 814-443-2121! 😊
Meet Kiyomi, our cat of the week!🌻This sweet senior girl is estimated to be ten years old and has been with us for 74 days. Kiyomi is the true definition of a lap cat and wishes to find a home where she can do just that be a lap cat. Kiyomi would prefer to be in a low-key environment that is quiet and calm where she can live out her old days, getting lots of love and taking many cat naps. Kiyomi would do best in a home with no children or dogs. For more information on Kiyomi or to set up an appointment to meet her, please call the shelter at 814-443-2121.
Here at the shelter, we are trying to find new ways to keep life interesting and fun for all of our residents by giving them new and exciting enrichment activities outside of their daily walks and playtime to keep their spirits lifted and to make their time with us more of an enjoyable experience. That said, we have started to give the dogs frisbees that we put peanut butter, carrots, plain cream cheese, blueberries, plain yogurt, and squeeze cheese on. Each night before we leave, we plan to give the dogs a variation of these ingredients on the inside of a plastic Frisbee to give them something to enjoy while they are here alone at night. Below you can see 💙Caspian💙, our dog of the week, getting his first-ever enrichment Frisbee, and he loves it❣️. We would love it if anyone looking to donate donated any of the ingredients listed above. If you decide to donate any of these items, refrigerated items would need to be dropped off at the shelter during our regular business hours of 12:00-5:00 so they do not spoil. Please call the shelter with any questions at 814-443-2121. Thank you so much!😀
