We want to apologize for anyone we inconvenienced by leaving earlier than expected today. After not having anyone at 11, we received a request for food that was needed at a warming center and made the decision to get it delivered. Again we apologize and hope everyone understands

The boys has a successful little run last night. Training and diligence gets the job done. We as handlers need to remember this saying (can’t remember where I saw it)
A good beginner team strives for intermediate skills
A good intermediate team strives for advanced skills
A great advanced team continues to work on the basics….
We, as humans, are the weak link in our canine partners journey to be the best they can be, it’s time for us to step up and do them justice.

Hey Pack, we survived Halloween, now it’s time to prep for Thanksgiving and Christmas, with this going on we are in need of non-perishable side type items for meals. We are being blessed with some turkeys and hams, so we are going in with a good start. Also if you know a family/individual that needs help with holidays meals, please let us know so we can get them taken care of. Remember we are a 501(c)3 so donations can be used as a tax break donation if needed or wanted.
Let’s get the pantry packed and we as a Pack can lead the charge in helping one another. Let’s show everyone, even those that think the world has forgotten them, some love and make our piece of the world a better place to be.

We had an awesome night of trick or treat fun. Everyone enjoyed it both visitors and our pack. We couldn’t do this with the help of our pack that shows up whenever needed, helped before hand (especially with the candy), helped break it down, Somerset-Pulaski SRT assisting with golf carts and a light pod, and of course the public for coming out and seeing us. We know that those that couldn’t make it still had us their thoughts. Thank you again from the bottoms of our hearts and pads on our paws. Can’t wait to do it again next year

Some of the boys at K911-KY say they found one of last years trick or treaters, they also say the building is ready to go, come out and see them and some of our Pack, plenty of room, candy, treats and puppy love to go around. We will be here rain or shine with golf carts for parking lot shuttle if needed or wanted

So after much deliberation and thought I have decided I needed to say something. We have been inundated with people sending us links, messages, texts, and phone calls about cadaver dogs to help in NC. This is a really hard time for all involved. We would love to help and our hearts hurt for all involved, but, with that being said there are multiple reasons why we are not there.
We, as a team, need to be requested through an official agency, not by a person. This is due to communication, logistics, planning, housing and all that entails. This may not seem like a big deal for some, but, as a responsible handler I cannot and will not ask my partner to work his tail off and not be able to ensure he is well taken care of, little things like fresh running water to bath him after the day working in and around everything that is now is the mud, water, debris etc., is important to his health not just appearance.
This disaster is a huge undertaking, it involves way more than any one agency can provide, every agency involved needs to work better together and communicate both plans and actions, that is the weak point at this time.
On a personal level, we operate a non-profit that survives by us being there and doing our classes, there is no outside funding that keeps the doors open and bills paid. If we had that kind of sponsorship or donorship happening we could easily close the doors and be gone for weeks at a time helping the ways our hearts want us to, but unfortunately our scale isn’t tipped in the right direction to be able to do a 14 day deployment and keep the bills being paid and not lose our customer base. It truly hurts to say that, but life is definitely not fair at times.
I cannot and will not blame any one agency, but will say it is everyone who is there’s responsibility to make these things happen.
It is easy to arm chair quarterback as a keyboard warrior complaining about how things are happening.

Had a great time and an absolutely wonderful turnout today supporting Hospices Paws in the Park event for the Pet Peace of Mind Program. We had a great time we did a few live find searches, practiced our obedience/distraction circle, performed some tricks and socialized with both people and pets.

Just a reminder that tomorrow 10/12, classes will be a Rocky Hollow Park, downtown Somerset. We are still planning to do SAR/HRD and our group circles, (at normal times) just at the park for a new environment for our pups. We are doing this to support the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Paws in the Park event. Everyone is welcome to attend, participate or just hang out . Hope to see you all there
