Happy Birthday to Jerry and Smoke! They were born, raised, and trained here. Both made the National Derby list and competed in the National Derby Championship. Excited for their future!

Went down to Lincoln Trail Retriever Club this weekend. Gator ended up winning the Qual and Kate finished 3rd. Proud of Gator hanging in there and being the only dog not to handle on a mark in the trial. Thanks to judges in all stakes, club members, and anyone else who helped the trial run smoothly.

This is our first time running the National Derby Championship. We’ve always had some qualified but they either were real young or didn’t seem to be the type that could keep it together for the whole week. This year we had two qualified and I felt both had a real shot at finishing. We lost Jerry after the 5th series because of a long hunt on a hen pheasant flyer. But Smoke hung in there the whole week and finished as a finalist! It was a long week full of ups and downs but a great experience. There’s so many people that come together to make this trial possible that there is no way to thank them all but thanks to the judges, landowners, all the volunteers, and sponsors! I had a long week but I know they had a longer one or even two.

Back to back derby wins for Smoke. Jerry finished with Reserve JAM. Thanks to Bluegrass Retriever club workers, club members, and judges that put in work all weekend.

Pretty wild weather this weekend but it was definitely worth the delayed start. We ran down at Middle Tennessee Amateur Retriever Club. The club did a good job keeping everything running with having to start 3 stakes all on the same day. Thanks to all the judges and workers who sat through some wind and rain. We ran two dogs in the derby and both placed. Happy with how they’ve been running this fall.

We ran the DQ at Green River Retriever Club this weekend. Proud of how our young dogs are running. The judges set up some tough quality test and the club members kept everything going smoothly. Thanks to everyone who helped at the trial even with the heat turning up in the afternoons.

Started the fall trial season off running our young dogs at Mid-Illinois Retriever Club. The weather was perfect and the grounds are beautiful. Thanks to all the club members and judges for keeping this double DQ running smoothly. Really proud of our young dogs for placing and finishing both days. Not sure there was any other dog to finish both trials and we had 5 that did. This weekend put Woodie on the derby list, Ryder QAA, and Jerry NDC qualified.

‼️HELP WANTED ‼️

Main job will be throwing dead ducks. You’ll be working outside in all weather, must touch dead ducks, follow directions, like dogs, show up, and at least try a little. Pay depends on if you show up and try. Opportunity for raises the better you do and longer you stay.
Job will also include cleaning kennels, washing truck and trailer, bathing dogs, feeding dogs, and assisting with field work. You’ll be able to get all the hours you want or as little. Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays. Message on here or Call/text 502-931-3187 for more information.

Good luck to everyone starting the National Amateur tomorrow! Specially John Broucek with Percy and Wayne Stupka with Kate. They both did a little training here before. They both also threw birds for some of my mutts so even more reason to cheer them on.
