I was an owner surrender due to my owner stating that she didn’t have enough time to take care of me. My owner said that I like a lot of affection, and I love my belly to be pet. My owner had me for four months before she surrendered me to the shelter. I can be a little nervous around strangers but once I trust you, I really love with every bit of my soul. I know sit and lay down. I have not been around cats before. I did pass being dog tested. My owner said I get along with children. I know sit and lay down. I do well with potty training but have an occasional pee accident if I have to hold it for to long, which is to be expected. Please keep in mind a new environment and new routine can be a lot for a pup.

I’m Jimmy and I am 1 year and 64 pounds. I was a stray, and the officer made a memo when he picked me up that said, “picked up a very friendly dog.” I was picked up at a factory and the staff members said I had been running loose for awhile. I wanted my owner to come back for me but no one ever came to get me. I looked good and hopped in the passenger side of the animal control truck back to the shelter, unsure of my future. I’m a good looking boy! I walk well on a leash but I can pull a little bit, because I am strong, but follow your directions well. I am a very smart dog. I know all of my basic commands: sit, stay, shake and roll over. Someone worked with me. I love to get belly rubs and roll over for you. I am a happy, happy boy. I am fully potty trained and I haven’t had any accidents in my kennel. I would love to find a home! 🏠
All dogs are spayed or neutered, and microchipped before going home. They have basic vaccinations and are heartworm tested. They are current on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Applications are good for one year. If you do not have a specific dog in mind, please apply and we can find the right fit for you! The shelter has to have an approved application in order to schedule a meet n greet!

ABANDONMENT OF ANIMALS IS ILLEGAL IN THE STATE OF INDIANA.
Last night around 10:35pm two individuals attempted to get into our police drop boxes illegally. When they found they were locked (because they are ONLY accessible to SBPD and our staff) they then dumped two bunnies and a guinea pig in boxes on the side of the shelter by the trash cans. Pictures of the animals are in the comments.
If you know these individuals and recognize the animals please contact us immediately with the information!
While we are here to help the animals and residents of the city with their animals, we are still a business and cannot be here 24/7. Abandoning and dumping animals, for any reason is never okay.

Playful pup Mason is a three-year-old boy looking for his forever home. Found as a stray, this friendly canine gets along with other dogs but prefers not to share the spotlight with feline friends. Mason's ideal family has older children or teenagers who will love and care for this boy like part of the family - this pup loves nothing more than playing with balls and squeaky toys, and has a love for walks in the park. He is sure to bring companionship to any household that is lucky enough to call him their own.
