We ❤️ our Vet Techs!! 🐾

This is just a small glimpse into all the ways vet techs help care for your pets. They can do it all - education, triage, anesthesia, surgery prep, laboratory sample collection and testing, post surgery care, inpatient treatments and so much more!

Meet Samantha, RVT

Sam loves being by an RVT because she gets to work with animals all day and help them feel better. She enjoys being able to calm a stressed or anxious pet and make their veterinary experience better. Sam’s favorite skills are drawing blood samples and placing IV catheters. She also loves cleaning teeth because it is satisfying afterwards when the pet feels so much better.

If pet’s could talk to us, Sam would want to know their opinion about humans. Do they think of us as their adoptive parents like we think of them as children?

If Sam could be an animal, she would want to be a duck so she could fly and swim. It would also be nice to go south for the winter!

Meet Annie, Vet Tech student

Annie enjoys getting to watch the love clients have for their pets. She also enjoy watching the pets grow each year and being able to be the link between pet and owner. Her favorite thing is taking history/talking to the pet owner to build a personal bond. Being able to know the clients and patients on a slightly deeper level and letting them know we truly do care about the well being of their loved one.

If pets could talk, Annie would want to know what they think about when they are home throughout the day.

If Annie could be an animal, she would want to be a capybara so she could spend her days in the water or grazing, just living it up

Meet Jamie, RVT

Jamie enjoys being a vet tech because she finds it rewarding to help improve the lives of animals. Her favorite thing about being a vet tech is education because she can teach others how to best care for their pets.

If animals could talk, Jamie would want them to be able to tell us directly if they are in pain so that we could help them sooner.

If Jamie was an animal, she would be a house cat so she can relax and sleep in cozy places all day.

Meet Amanda, RVT

Amanda enjoys being a vet tech and loves being able to help animals on a daily basis and educating pet owners on how to best care for their furry loved ones! Her favorite skills to do within the clinic is to perform blood draws and place IV catheters.

If pets could talk, Amanda would want to know how she could improve their lives and make them more enriched.

If Amanda could be any animal, she would want to be a Sea Turtle. They are one of her favorite sea creatures and she thinks it would be cool to get to explore the ocean, it’s like a whole other planet down there.

Meet Abby, RVT student!

Abby enjoys being a vet tech student and seeing the positive impact she has on both pets and their owners every day. She loves being able to provide patient care to pets in hospital, making sure they feel comfortable and are healing well throughout the recovery process.

If pets could talk, Abby would want to know how they perceive their world to better understand them and where they feel pain/discomfort to better help them.

If Abby could be any animal, she would want to be a bird so that she can fly anywhere.

Happy Vet Tech Appreciation Week! This week is devoted to celebrating veterinary technicians and their essential roles in caring for your pet.

Registered veterinary technicians (RVTs) in Indiana must pass both state and national exams to obtain their licenses (just like registered nurses RNs). RVTs receive specialized education and training in medical and surgical nursing, diagnostic imaging (x-rays and ultrasounds), anesthesiology, lab procedures, dental care and so much more!

Thank any one of our RVTs: Sam, Jamie and Amanda or RVT students: Abby and Annie!
