*Humility in Dog Training + Free Video Link*
Wait a second... A dog trainer, telling you where to get free information?
Yep! This is about the dogs, not the money.
Here's the thing: all trainers learned from those around us, and we continue to learn as we face new behaviors, personalities, and environmental obstacles. I don't believe in achieving "competence," but instead work toward humility. Humility in training is being able to say "Huh. That is a tricky one. I've never encountered that before. Lemme think on it" or even to do a consult and say "I think I might not be the right person for you to work with, but ____ is a person I admire who might be a better fit."
As a dog-owner, sometimes you just want to be able to access information, for free, that is trustworthy. Typing "how do I make my puppy stop biting" into YouTube isn't going to get those results. You'll get everything from hardcore dominance theory to "the word no is punishment." It is overwhelming.
SO: I want to share a resource that I have found to be incredibly helpful. I respect the work of Michael Ellis (though I do not mirror all of his philosophies) and have appreciated the free educational videos posted on the Leerburg site.
Maybe you don't have time or financial flexibility to hire me (or another trainer) right now. That's okay!
