Can pets have too much water? Yes, they can. As important as water is for our pets, too much can cause water intoxication. Aim for one ounce of water per pound of body weight daily.

Please don’t leave your babies in the car.
We had an emergency case today where a cat was left in a vehicle & overheated.
Thankfully the owner brought her to us just in time.
Dr Smith was able to bring her body temperature down. 🐱💜

Never leave your pet alone in a car, even in the shade or with a cracked window. The inside can heat up to around 100 degrees in less than 10 minutes on an 80-degree day.

Helpful pointers from MedVet to help keep your babies safe from snakes!
We enjoy hikes with our dogs, we are sure you do as well.
Be careful this summer!

Whether you are enjoying a hike or a nice afternoon in the yard with your pet, it’s important to remember that snakes enjoy the warmer weather, too. Combining a curious pet and a venomous snake can end in a life-threatening snakebite.

Yesterday was National Hairball Awareness Day.
Is you cat showing these symptoms?
Schedule your appointment today to get your baby examined.

Most cats pass the hair they consume while grooming, but if it doesn’t pass, it will get bigger and bigger creating a hairball. Once the hairball soaks up enough bile, it triggers a regurgitation response. The gagging, hacking, or retching sounds that often lead to vomiting are unmistakable to most. If these behaviors are prolonged and/or accompanied by lack of appetite, lethargy, constipation, or diarrhea, a hairball could be causing a potentially life-threatening blockage. Call your family veterinarian right away or bring your cat to MedVet.

We are seeing a huge increase in Lyme Disease in our clinic. Have you picked a tick off your dog lately? Some ticks are so small you can barely see them.
If you pet is showing any of these symptoms, bring your pet in for a 4DX blood test to see if your dog is Lyme Positive.

If you’ve removed a tick from your pet, you’ll want to keep an eye out for these signs as they could indicate that your pet has Lyme Disease. Contact your veterinarian or come see us for diagnosis and treatment. And remember, one of the best things to do to protect against Lyme Disease is to prevent it. We suggest using tick preventatives year-round.
