Air plants are one of our favorite ways to take a terrarium or paludarium to the next level!

Air plants, or Tillandsia, are a group of epiphytic plants that thrive without soil, absorbing water and nutrients through their leaves. Native to forests, mountains, and deserts in Central and South America, they are part of the bromeliad family. In paludariums, which combine land and water elements, air plants are an excellent choice. They can be attached to rocks, driftwood, or other hardscapes above the waterline, where they can thrive in the humid environment. Their ability to live on minimal substrate and their need for only indirect light and misting makes them ideal for creating a lush, naturalistic look in paludarium setups.

Red Devil Vampire Crabs are named for their striking appearance with vibrant red and purple coloration. These crustaceans are native to Java, Indonesia and thrive in humid semi-aquatic enclosures like paludariums, requiring both land and water features.
