Riverview Farms purchased the Funk orchard off of Old Maids Lane in 1977. In a need to market our apples we began renting the Old Cider Mill on Main street in South Glastonbury. Bill is a kid at heart and added fun things to do along with the apple and cider sales. The Fall events grew to include a petting zoo, hay rides, face painting, birthday parties, tours, and baby chicks to hold and a 30' Pumpkin Bounce! After 16 years renting the Mill, we looked to add another venue for our sales and to continue to offer our customers the fall traditions we are known for. In 2006, the “Fall Festival” partnered with Robb’s Ice Cream Stand and moved to 91 Wassuc Road. The combination of Robb’s delicious farm-made ice cream and gorgeous views of the South Glastonbury Hills makes this a not to be missed family destination. Robb’s Ice Cream offers 30 flavors of made on the farm Ice Cream. Specialty flavors include: Goat Tracks, Dirty Barn Shoes, Grand Slam and Pumpkin (seasonal). The Fall Festival starts the weekend after Labor Day and runs through Halloween. During our last week the Corn Maze is taken over by The Glastonbury High School Crew Teams for a “Haunting.” As a fundraiser for a local charity, the Corn Maze is transformed into a haunting of aMAZING proportions. Riverview Farms continues to offer a fun, family event, loaded with adventures for all ages. We continue to look for new experiences to offer our customers. Fall Festival

Fresh Local Apples from our South Glastonbury Orchard
Apple Varieties:
Macintosh- The fall standard. Excellent for applesauce. Gets sweeter as the season goes on. Cortland-our favorite pie apple: a bit tart and keeps it's shape in cooking. Empire- a beautiful apple! Keeps well. Ripens later in the season: last week in Sept to the first week in Oct. Crisp and sweet. Macoun- crisp, white flesh. Excellent eating. Needs cool nights to ripen. Watch the website for ripening times. Approx. 3rd week in September. Honey Crisp - A “Gourmet Apple” crisp, juicy and sweet. Try it and you’ll be hooked! Limited quantity. Watch the website for ripening times! Get them early because this apple sells out every season! This apple stores well in the refrigerator. I have tested this one and so far the apples have been excellent for 3 months in the fridge. Research has shown they will keep up to 6 months. We haven’t made it that long in our house, we eat them too soon! Heritage Golden Delicious: This apple doesn't have the shine we have gotten used to seeing on the apples these days, but the sweetness of this apple is delightful! A true oldie but goodie. Petting Zoo
You will find at least 10 different animals in our petting zoo. Mini-horses, goats, donkey, chickens, guinea fowl, baby chicks, cow and month old calf, llama, pigs, sheep and turkeys. Let one of our workers help you hold a baby chick ! Petting zoo food is for sale. We use ice cream cones that the animals also eat : NO TRASH !! Watch out! Our goats are always happy to see you and there are a few loose in the pen with you!! Feed them their pellets and they will be your friend forever. Wear your Barn Shoes !! Enter our animal’s world and come face to snout, eye to eye, and hand to hoof, with our farm animals. We pick our friendliest goats for you to pet and feed.
