We still owe $750 to Hay Monsters Rabbit Sanctuary for Violette’s care there. I would absolutely LOVE to see that get paid off. (Payments can be sent directly to them or is with Violette in the memo).

We also have spay/neuters constantly at Michigan Mixed Animal Veterinary Services Inc., you can call them directly to donate on our account at 1-269-767-7524.

Atlas needs X-rays on his front legs, and New Girl needs her eye removed and will be spayed at the same time. Those will take place at DRVC on Columbia and donations can be made there by calling 1-269-441-3013.

Good morning friends!
Today we have our last 11 rat boys going in for neuter as well as our two newest females.
My goal for our most recent fundraisers was 500 in order to almost cover most of the costs of today's surgeries.
Today we will be spending around 650 at Michigan Mixed Animal Veterinary Services Inc.
And we've raised 230 so far
So our goal today is to try to make the other 250.

Prevention tip: while water is always important for animals with the colder weather animals are less likely to drink, it is important that we make sure fresh water is available and not a solid block of ice. Horses especially like to stop drinking during the cold weather and then they will colic, so you can add a tablespoon of salt daily to their grain/hay to encourage they continue to drink. Also now is a good time to run sand clear through them and deworm them. Also offer both water with a heater and without a heater, as some are more picky, and ensure your water heater is working properly as their muzzles are more sensitive than our hand is and sometimes they feel a current we do not so that might stop them from drinking as well.

We all know there is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man. But some things on the outside of your horse are good also for the inside of the horse himself!

Your horse’s whiskers, for example, are tactile hairs that play an important part in your equine friend’s sensory awareness system. Just to mention one thing, they help your horse gather information about their surroundings in the blind spot existing from their eye level to ground below the nose and out to about six feet—so the animal can sense things like the grass he grazes on and the hand that strokes his muzzle.
