Thanksgiving…the day you give thanks for all the good things in your life and enjoy a special meal with family and friends. On this day of thanks, you can also treat your canine companions to a delicious meal that is safe to eat!
Here are a few simple recipes to consider making your favorite four-legged friends this week.
1. Turkey & Sweet Potato Mash
Ingredients
½ cup cooked turkey (skinless, unseasoned, and bone-free)
½ cup cooked sweet potato (mashed, no butter or sugar added)
1 tbsp plain, unsweetened pumpkin puree
Instructions
Shred the turkey into small pieces.
Combine the turkey, sweet potato, and pumpkin puree in a bowl.
Mash together until smooth and serve at room temperature.
2. Green Bean & Carrot Crunchies
Ingredients
½ cup steamed green beans (plain, no seasoning)
½ cup cooked carrots (cut into small pieces or mashed)
1 tbsp plain Greek yogurt
Instructions
Chop the green beans into bite-sized pieces.
Mix the green beans, carrots, and yogurt in a bowl.
Chill slightly before serving as a crunchy, nutritious snack.
3. Pumpkin & Apple Treats
Ingredients
½ cup plain, unsweetened pumpkin puree
½ small apple (peeled and finely diced, seeds and core removed)
1 tbsp cooked, plain oats
Instructions
Mix the pumpkin puree, apple, and oats in a small bowl.
Spoon the mixture into silicone molds or form small dollops on a parchment-lined tray.
Freeze for at least 2 hours and serve as a cold treat.
