Sweet Potato and Oat Crunch Dog Biscuits
Ingredients:
- 1 cup cooked and mashed sweet potato
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or coconut oil
- Optional topping: Crushed rice cereal or finely chopped nuts (dog-safe, such as peanuts or almonds, unsalted)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potato, rolled oats, applesauce, egg, and olive oil. Stir until a thick dough forms.
3. Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
4. Use a bone-shaped cookie cutter (or any desired shape) to cut out biscuits.
5. If using a topping, press the crushed rice cereal or finely chopped nuts onto the top of each biscuit.
6. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and firm.
7. Allow the biscuits to cool completely before serving.
Storage:
Store the biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
