Meet "Big" George
Big George, affectionately known as "Not That Big George," has a story that tugs at the heartstrings. Rescued from a kill pen, his journey to safety was marked by unimaginable cruelty. His previous owner, in a final act of heartlessness, struck George in the face as he handed him over. It was a moment that could have shattered any spirit.

But George, despite his stout build and shy demeanor, possesses a heart too big to be broken. The scars of his past are evident, yet they haven’t hardened him. Instead, they’ve made him more tender, more appreciative of the kindness he finally found. That kindness came in the form of Sherise, his new mom, who saw past his rough exterior and recognized the gentle soul within.

Before George even made it home, he was adopted—claimed by love and compassion. Sherise’s bond with George is immediate and deep, as if he’d been waiting his whole life for someone to see him, to truly care for him. And now, with a heart full of love and a new home where he is cherished, Big George is learning that not all humans are like the one who hurt him. He’s discovering that he’s worthy of care, and in Sherise’s gentle hands, he’s starting to believe it.

Yesterday, Sherise had a great time hanging out with her new buddy, "Big" George! She introduced him to the world of brushing—definitely a new experience for him, but he handled it like a champ. She even managed to give some of the other new rescues a little spa treatment too. Trust-building is going to be a slow and steady process, but we’re all about those baby steps and celebrating every little victory!

Meet Henry
Henry is a gentle giant, a massive horse with a heart as big as his towering frame. When we first rescued him, we couldn’t help but notice the slight droop in his lip—a lasting mark of a past injury, a reminder of the hardships he endured before finding safety with us. But despite this short time with us, Henry’s spirit is anything but broken.
He’s a bit of a goofball, always finding ways to make us smile with his silly antics. Whether it’s nuzzling his enormous head into your arms or playfully nudging at his water bucket, there’s an unmistakable warmth in everything Henry does. His favorite thing in the world, though, is having his shoulder scratched. It’s a small comfort that brings him immense joy, and his eyes soften with gratitude every time he feels that familiar, gentle touch.
Though his lip may carry the memory of his past, Henry’s heart has healed, filled now with kindness and trust. He’s a living testament to the power of love and care—a horse who, despite all he’s been through, radiates gentleness and a playful spirit that reminds us daily of the beauty in second chances.

Meet Peaches
Peaches, a beautiful palomino paint mare, carries both visible and invisible scars. Her once-glossy coat is now marred by the signs of a hard life, and her spirit bears the weight of untold hardships. When we first brought her home, Peaches was a ghost of a horse—shy, withdrawn, and too afraid to trust the kind hands reaching out to her.
​There’s a softness in her eyes, though, a flicker of hope that speaks of the life she wants to live. We’ve also noticed the gentle rounding of her belly, a sign that she might be carrying new life within her, a tiny spark of hope for the future. Every day, Peaches is slowly starting to believe that not all touch is painful, that some hands bring only comfort. She’s begun to take cautious steps toward us, seeking out the gentle attention she craves but is still too fearful to fully embrace.
It’s in these small, tentative moments that we see her heart. Peaches wants to trust, to love, and to be loved, but the walls she’s built around herself are still too high to let us all the way in. Yet with every soft nuzzle, every moment she lets her guard down just a little more, we know she’s trying. We’re here, patiently waiting for the day when Peaches will let go of her past and fully embrace the love and safety we’re offering her. Until then, we’ll cherish every step she takes towards us, no matter how small, because we know that for Peaches, each one is a leap of faith.

Little George is thriving and Willow is doing an excellent job as a mother! At 10 weeks old, he is getting more independent, Willow is looking forward to some well-deserved time with her friends in the pasture once Lil George is a bit more self-sufficient.. It’s always a heartwarming experience to watch a young horse grow and see how the mother nurtures them.

Scarlett, the new rescue, is showing her personality already! She’s been cooperative with her front feet, which is a great sign of her willingness to trust. However, like many horses, she’s a bit more sensitive about her hind legs, likely due to past experiences or natural instinct.

Thankfully, Kirsten is on hand to help with this. With patience and gentle training, Scarlett will likely grow more comfortable with the farrier over time. Her sweet nature shines through, and with the right approach, she’s sure to continue making progress and become a confident, well-adjusted horse.

A Joyful Arrival: Our Oklahoma Rescues Make Themselves at Home

Today was a big day for our four new rescues from Oklahoma. After handling the trip like pros and getting into the trailer without a fuss, we finally brought them to the barn. As soon as we opened the doors, they were off—running and kicking with pure joy! It was incredible to see them so full of energy, racing around their new space like they'd been waiting for this moment. It's clear they're already feeling at home, and we can't wait to see them settle in even more

Meet Big Red, a 15.2 hands Quarter Horse gelding who is as gentle as a teddy bear. At 15 years old, he's experienced and dependable, having seen and done it all. Over the past six months, we've had the pleasure of discovering his talents as he healed, and we couldn't be more excited to share what we've found. They made it from the Oklahoma kill pens! ❤️
Their spirits were wrecked and you can tell they were put through it. It breaks your heart to see them like that. We spent all night trying to gain their trust. Baby steps. We were able to halter a few (we didn’t bring a big enough one for big Henry! lol, but he let us improvise)

We have limited info on these guys-
Palomino paint mare - possible in foal. Say she’s 9-10 (I think younger) - she’s very scared of people right now and has every right to be. She’s a stunner!
Dun Mare- possible in foal. - sweet thing. Golden retriever type. Loved the little kids around the pen. Not mare-ish. Will want your undervoted attention!
Percheron Cross- Henry- 4 years old. Probably close to 16.2 already. Has a droopy lip on one side (dont suspect EDM) he eats and drinks fine with it. He’s a puppy dog with women. And still standoffish with men.
George- draft cross- 8 years old. 15hh handsome man. He’s black with some dappling! Broke!
All are beat up and have issues. Vet and farrier are on their way. They are on quarantine for 30 days in Brooklyn Michigan!

We are in the process of rescuing a couple of horses from Oklahoma. However, we just found out that 15 more horses urgently need saving because their original rescuer is no longer responding. The rescue organization is asking for $1,000 per horse, and we only have a few days to act.
