When a community comes together & unites to support small businesses, great things will happen! Everyone that has shared their love & support for our passion to provide healthy & nutritious food & treats to your loved furry family members over the last eight & a half years made this happen.

Pet Wants SOMa is now located at 63 South Orange Avenue, right next door to our previous store, in the new Taylor + Vose building. We’re excited to join & be even closer to , & retail row. All of whom have been terrific neighbors!

Along with acquiring a larger retail footprint, in just a few weeks, there will be three, private self-wash pet stations. One for large pets, a second with a waist-high tub for smaller pets & a third more spacious station that’s ADA compliant. Every station has sliding doors in case your pet is a runner or reactive to other pets.

There’s still some work left to finish up in the new space, but we are open for business. Stop by & check out our new location & we will give you a tour. Same hours: Monday - Friday 10am - 7pm, Saturday 9am - 6pm & Sunday 11am - 5pm. Our website was upgraded earlier this year & if you can’t make it to the shop, visit PetWantsSOMa.com to explore the new user-friendly experience. As always, as long as we’re open, free same-day delivery throughout Essex County.

It’s kitten adoption day ! 11am - 2pm. Alice is a sweet Calico & Bianca a beautiful Tuxedo.

Two female, 9 week-old kittens looking for a loving home together or separately. Adoption fee covers all shots and spaying. Application will be required.

For every successful adoption, we will donate 5 pounds of our Cat £ Kitten dry food.

As an LGBTQ+ owned & operated small business, we are fortunate to be able live our true authentic selves all year long in one of the most progressive pockets in the country.

Barclay was Laura's first born. Laura and her husband Harlan got him at a time when they never knew if they would be blessed with children. Losing Barclay was profound, she shared, and it took a while to even be able to talk about it. But writing these books is a way she can keep his memory alive and capturing moments of beauty in his life and ours. As a former teacher, Laura also loves the idea of putting out meaningful children’s content that hopefully they can relate to and learn from.

The first book, Barclay and the Chocolate Chips, is about the importance of always speaking up. The second book, Barkley Moves to New York, which is actually the prequel, deals with change and how hard it can be for all of us. Both books will be available at a discount at the signing. All proceeds will be shared with the .

Laura Schreiber is a professional voice actor, writer, and mother who lives in South Orange, New Jersey. Best known for her national TV and radio commercials, she has a passion for audiobooks. Laura has an AB in Political Science from Barnard College, Columbia University and an MA in the Teaching of Social Studies from Teachers College, Columbia University. When not in the booth, Laura loves spending time with her precious dogs, going to the beach, and on weekends Laura is likely feeding her shoe habit or stuffing her face with Jersey fudge.

Julia Maloof Verderosa Photographer will be joining the pack at Pet Wants SOMa for another fun day filled with love, laughter & cherished heart-filled pictures of your best, four-legged friend & family member. Cats & other pets are welcome, reach out ahead of time so we can make accommodations for them!

The $60.00 session fee includes a 10 minute photo shoot & 1 hi-res fully- retouched file. You may purchase additional files & prints, as well, because it's always hard just choosing one! A gallery of selects will be emailed with info on how to choose your files & prints a few weeks after the photo shoot.

The Pop Up donation recipient is: Rescue Haven Foundation
