My space is quite small so I do one on one, avoiding dogs by passing each other as much as i can. I've personally had/have reactive dogs and understand it can be stressful for everyone at times. I like keeping my shop everyone's safe and comfy place. Days like today reminds me why I focus on keeping my room and energy calm. Miss Daisy was very nervous upon arrival, she had no idea what to expect. Lots of praise and treats thru the process she settled in and showed me her beautiful personality filled with happiness.

So very important! Also makes grooming less stressful for everyone.

When training your dog, make sure to touch their paws, legs, ears, mouth, tail. This will not only help you when you need to check your dog over, but will also help when your vet needs to perform an exam, trim nails, etc. Teaching your dog to not fear having these parts touched, makes our job so much easier.

Please remember to keep your pets warm! If for some reason you have outdoor dogs, you MUST provide them with adequate shelter for their size (regardless of breed). You must also regularly provide access to water (snow doesn’t count) and heated water dishes can be purchased from places like Walmart.

Shelter per Michigan law:

(i) The residence of the dog's owner or other individual.
(ii) A doghouse that is an enclosed structure with a roof and of appropriate dimensions for the breed and size of the dog. The doghouse must have dry bedding when the outdoor temperature is or is predicted to drop below freezing.
(iii) A structure, including a garage, barn, or shed, that is sufficiently insulated and ventilated to protect the dog from exposure to extreme temperatures or, if not sufficiently insulated and ventilated, contains a doghouse as provided under subparagraph (ii) that is accessible to the dog.

If you see a dog outside for *extended* periods of time without dry/adequate shelter, please contact your local law enforcement agency or Regional Dispatch with your concerns. We know some breeds love the snow and cold, so reporting a big fluffy Malamute who bas been outside for an hour is likely not warranted, but it’s just too darn cold for many other breeds to be outside for any length of time without proper housing. ❤️

Ooo look at this pretty girl!

Sweet Nala is a lab/mastiff mix. She has the silly personality of a lab, with the fierce loyalty of a mastiff. She's only about a year old. She loves to play (if you couldn't tell she likes toys), and she is very treat motivated. This lady can be shy at first, but once you get the treats out you can win her over. In her previous home, she lived with kids and cats, and her former owner said she did well with both. Could you be the one to give her the best holiday gift of a forever home?
