Hello everyone!

Just a quick announcement - our lobby is now open!

A few notes:
•The lobby has moved since we have been curbside. You will now go through the left South Paw door rather than the main one you used to enter through.
•All pets must be on a leash or in a carrier - please be mindful of others and keep space between dogs in the lobby area.
•Masks are optional for customers.
•Please park in the unmarked parking spots in our parking lot - those marked APT 1-4 are for the tenants in the upstairs apartments in this building.
•If you are not comfortable coming in to the lobby, just give us a call and we can still provide curbside drop off and pickup for you.

February is National Pet Dental Health Month!🦷

Did you know, according to Dr Lorraine Hiscox of VCA Hospitals, over 80% of dogs display some level of periodontal disease by the age of 3?

Here at South Paw, not only do we strive to help your pet look and feel their best, but we also want them to be at their healthiest!

To do our part, we are offering $3 off our teeth brushing service (regularly $12) through the end of February! Your dog will receive a thorough brushing with an enzymatic toothpaste, followed by a mint breath foam.

Hey everyone!

Just a friendly reminder - all of our COVID-19 protocol from our re-opening in May is still in effect until we hear otherwise.

•All appointment drop-offs and pick-ups are curbside. We are still unable to allow clients into the building. Please give us a ring when you are in our parking lot and we will come out to your car. 651-451-2199. Our number is also posted on both doors, the side of the building, and our street sign.
•All services are by appointment only at this time. This includes nail trims, gland expression, and other services that were previously on a walk-in basis.
•All of our staff continue to wear masks, and we appreciate our clients doing the same to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Another note - due to said protocol, we are experiencing a much higher call volume. Because we only have 2 phone lines, if they are both busy, your call will go straight to voice-mail. If this happens, please try again after a minute or two once a line opens up and your call will go through.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in making things run as smoothly as possible during the COVID craziness. You guys are the best!

Hello everyone!

Yes, this is the post you’ve all been anxiously awaiting. We are officially re-opening tomorrow - Thursday, May 7th! Of course, with the current state of COVID, we will be operating quite differently than usual. Please take a moment to read through this post so we can give you as much information as possible.

Until further notice, we will be operating with curbside drop-off and pick-up. We ask that you give us a call (651-451-2199) upon arrival, and a staff member will be sent out to retrieve your pet. For dogs, we will secure them with our own lead first, then ask you to remove their collar and/or harness before we bring them inside. All cats must come to their appointments in a carrier. Our staff will be wearing masks, as well as washing hands and disinfecting leads between dogs. We ask that you also wear a mask if possible to help keep our staff safe. If you are experiencing ANY symptoms or feeling ill in any way, PLEASE reschedule your appointment for the safety of us and our customers. We will still be accepting our usual forms of payment including cash, check, or card. During this time, we will not be accepting walk-in nail trims or gland expressions. These services will be by appointment only.

As stated in the last post, we are currently in the process of rescheduling several dogs and returning voicemails for new appointments. We ask that if you had a previous appointment that was cancelled, or you have already left a voicemail to schedule a new one, please do not leave multiple messages. We are experiencing extremely high call volumes, and though it may take up to a week or so at this time, we WILL get back to you as soon as we can.

We are happy to be back, and hope to see you and your furry family members in the near future! We appreciate all of you patiently waiting for us during the stay at home order. Your support during this time has been incredible and we are so grateful to have such wonderful clientele!

Hello everyone!

Our staff is currently working on putting procedures in place to reopen as quickly and as safely as possible. We are in the process of rescheduling the 300 existing appointments that were cancelled during the governor's Stay At Home Order first, then will be moving on to returning voicemails which are at about 150 and counting. If you had an appointment already scheduled with us that was affected, we will call you to reschedule. You do not need to do anything. If you did not have a standing appointment, and have not yet left us a voicemail, feel free to give us a ring and we will return your call as soon as possible to get on the books. Please be patient with us as we work through this! Thank you, and we will see everyone soon!

Hey everyone,

Sad news. As I'm sure you know, we are unfortunately included in the extension of the stay at home order that was announced yesterday. This means our new tentative reopen date is now pushed to May 5th. Hopefully this one sticks and we are not extended again, but we will keep you updated as that date comes closer. We will also be contacting those with appointments within the affected range of dates.

Keep your spirits up, we are all in this together! Stay safe, enjoy this extra time with your pups, and we will see you as soon as we can.💚

Unfortunately, due to the 2-week shut down of non-essential businesses in Minnesota, we will be closed from Saturday, March 28th through at least Friday, April 10th. Those with standing appointments will be cancelled for the time being, and will be contacted individually to reschedule once we know the exact date in which we will re-open . Hello everyone!

We have been receiving several phone calls from those with upcoming appointments as to whether or not we are open with the COVID-19 issue. Until we are told otherwise, we will remain open! If for some reason we are forced to close down for a period of time, we will be sure to post it here and notify all appointments that are affected.

We ask that you take all precautions possible to stay safe including washing hands, avoiding touching your face, and try to make pick ups/drop offs as quick as possible to reduce potential exposure. We are sanitizing our lobby area regularly and do have hand sanitizer if you need it.

Hi all!
Just a friendly reminder to PLEASE keep your pets on flea and tick preventative until we have the first frost of the year. This is the worst time of year for fleas, as it is starting to get cold and they are desperate for a warm host. They are extremely active right now!
We have had multiple dogs come in with fleas in the past couple weeks. We then have to immediately send these dogs home ungroomed or partially groomed as we cannot risk infesting other clients. Please contact your veterinarian to suggest a form of preventative that works best for you if you do not already have one.

My name is Ann McGrath and I am not only a client of South Paw, I am Nick’s cousin.

In case you didn’t know, Nick’s beloved Harley was stolen from his home 8/8. He is devastated.

When Nick isn’t at the shop helping take care of our fur babies ( which isn’t often enough because he is such an amazing soul and loves his customers and their fur babies he often works 12-16 hours a day! On nice days his escape and joy was riding his Harley.

He had a lot of time and money into customizing his Harley.

So I started go fund me account ( Nick didn’t know I was doing this and I am sure I will be getting a phone call from him soon) to help give back to him as he does so much for others.

He is always willing to lend a hand, stay late to finish your fur baby, often opens the shop on his “day off” so he can groom for someone who “can’t get in an appointment”. He will drop anything to help someone if he can, he is an amazing man!

He has rescued animals, he has fostered animals, he LOVES animals.

So please consider donating to help me give back to Nick Taylor so he can get another bike to start customizing.

Hi all!

Tomorrow on Saturday, July 6th the shop will be closed. We have had staff here during the holiday week, but will be taking Saturday off collectively as a crew to spend the weekend celebrating with our families and friends. Good morning South Paw customers!🐾

Spring has sprung (finally), and thus, busy season is upon us! We are currently booking about 2 weeks out for haircuts, and that time is only increasing. (Baths we can typically get in quite a bit sooner.) To avoid waiting weeks to get in, we encourage you to rebook your next appointments when picking up your pet. Not only do you get the date and time you want, but you also receive a $3 discount on that groom and don't have to worry about calling in!

In addition to booking out further, we also are experiencing a much higher call volume and increase in walk-in services such as nail trims and teeth brushing. The combination of these interruptions often causes grooms to take a bit longer, (generally around 3 hours for small haircut dogs), so please be patient with us on times!

We appreciate all of the incredible support from our community that has caused us to be this busy! We would not be here without you!
