Our Mission: At The Purrfect Catch, our mission is to educate, promote, and facilitate the humane treatment and management of feral homeless cat colonies on San Francisco Peninsula, CA and Charlotte, NC communities. What are homeless cats?
- Homeless cats are sometimes called feral
- Always the result of pet owners' abandonment or failure to spay/neuter (S/N) their animals
- Many assume their an

imals will survive when they move away and leave them behind; domestic animals do not automatically return to their "natural" instincts and cannot fend for themselves
- They do not have the skills needed to survive outside unassisted

True ferals are not socialized to people
- Typically fearful of people
- Prefer to avoid contact with people
- Occasionally form bonds with caregivers
- They typically live in groups called colonies and have strong social bonds with their feline colony member

Who are feral cats?
- Feral cats are healthy

Don’t be fooled, this is as still as this trio gets. Normally they are full of kitten energy and action. These three are bonded so our goal is to keep them together and find a forever home where they can stay together forever. Join us on Saturday from noon-3 pm at the San Mateo Pet Club and meet these fur babies in person.

They gained weight over the past two days but not much and mom hasn’t been eating as much. I’ll continue to closely monitor these wee ones. They are active which is a great sign. And within the past day lots more ear twitching and talking.

The Purrfect Catch is providing support to another homeless cat rescue individual to pay vet bills - when we have the funds. Lenity came to the rescue again providing us with platinum vet services at a reduced cost for this kitty. Here’s Slate’s story…Slate was found two weeks old along with his siblings in a hoarder’s garage in Modesto, Ca. They were rescued and when they transitioned from Mom’s milk to solid food, Slate started having nasal congestion and stopped eating. An antibiotic was administered and helped, but didn’t resolve the congestion problem. His growth was eventually stunted by his inability to eat like a normal kitten. He still gets winded when eating or playing. Check out the size of his paws in the photo - poor little guy. He should be bigger by now.

Slate is now 1.5 years old and has been seen by six veterinarians. The fifth veterinarian thought she had discovered the problem, which she diagnosed as a hole in his hard palate that was sending bacteria from his mouth into his nasal cavity and sinuses. When we took him for an exam at Lenity, the surgeon said that she couldn’t find any hole in his hard palate! She recommended a CT scan that has now been done, and we are waiting for feedback from the radiologist. Thankfully we got a huge discount for the CT scan at Lenity. Slate has mounting veterinary bills. If you would like to help the Purrfect Catch continue to cover Slate’s vet bills, please include a note that your donation is for Slate’s vet bills. While the heroes at SFSPCA Community Cats continue to help us with spay/neuter, vaccination, Revolution, and microchipping expenses for the homeless cats we trap, we continue to find fur balls who need additional veterinary care. This rescue work is both very rewarding and can get expensive!

No pause to kitten season and it’s already December 14. Thanks to the SFSPCA hero’s in scrubs, this little spicy nugget will get spayed/neutered today. I still have at least one more kitten from this litter to trap. No frost collecting on me this winter!
