Yay! Santa's reindeer had their annual exam at the North Pole, and are all healthy and ready to take Santa around the world!
They'll have a pre-flight exam on Christmas Eve, and another when they return to the North Pole after they've made all their deliveries.

The canine respiratory disease that you've been hearing about is now in Maine.

Harbor Road recommends vaccinating all dogs with the canine influenza vaccine (a series of two injections 3-4 weeks apart) and the bordetella vaccine, which is adminstered orally. Please call the office at 207-354-0266 to set up appointments.

This disease is very contagious, so please try to minimize your dog's exposure to other dogs. And keep your dog home if s/he shows any signs of illness: coughing, fever, lethargy, decreased appetite, labored breathing and discharge from the eyes or nose.

It's Vet Tech Appreciation Week, and we celebrate our entire staff this week.

Many of you know how amazing, dedicated and hardworking our team is. But we want to remind everyone about some of the many hats they all wear...

scrub nurse, lab tech, pharmacist, anesthesiologist, nutritionist, radiographer, geriatric nurse, phlebotomist, cat wrangler, behaviorist, kennel worker, physical therapist, groomer, dental hygienist, ER nurse, janitor, dog walker, receptionist, and neonatal nurse, to name a few!

Our entire team is dedicated to helping you keep your pets healthy, often working through their lunch break or staying late, taking patients to and from the emergency clinic. They are hug givers and paw holders, they have big hearts and often have tired bodies, and most of all, they love and care for all animals. And they're funny and fun to work with!

We - and you and your pets - are very lucky to have them!

Thank you Diane, Annebelle, Drew, Taryn, Lily, Jenna, Heather and Payton! As we've said many times, we couldn't do it without you!

Diet and exercise work! Willow has lost 23.3 pounds since she moved to Maine at the end of last year. She learned to swim, and now goes to the beach twice week. Her favorite treats are frozen green beans, freeze dried minnows, and ice cubes.
