Meet Dr. Ann Friedhofer

Welcome to Restore and Rebalance Veterinary Acupuncture. Dr. Friedhofer practices Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) at Canine New England in Walpole, Ma, in association with the Canine Joint, a physical therapy practice. She is also partnering with Abbott Valley Veterinary Center in Cumberland, RI, where she has worked for the past 8 years. She hopes to connect with other veterinary practices in the area to provide additional treatment days, as well as provide mobile services for pets that are unable to travel. Services offered will include acupuncture, food therapy, Tui-na (Chinese therapeutic massage) and herbal medicine.

Dr. Friedhofer is a graduate of Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Post graduation, she interned at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, where she stayed on for an additional year in internal medicine. During her twenty-five year career, she has worked at small animal practices and shelters in Massachusetts and northern Rhode Island. She also provides medical support for NEADS World Class Service Dogs, a national assistance dog program located in Princeton, MA. In her free time, Dr. Friedhofer loves to cook and spend time with her family hiking, boating and skiing. She also enjoys traveling with friends and family. She currently has four furry creatures of her own: Savannah, a bichon-poodle cross, Luna, a lab cross adopted from Texas and two kitties, Franklin and Annaleise.

Dr. Friedhofer has always been fascinated by Chinese medicine and referred patients for treatment, but the catalyst for her becoming certified in small animal veterinary acupuncture at the Chi Institute in Florida was the remarkable response her own dog, Savannah, had to acupuncture following a severe disk herniation. Her prognosis was very guarded for recovery, even with emergency surgery, but the gains that she made daily with acupuncture, herbal medicine and physical therapy were astounding. Today, she walks, runs and climbs stairs, albeit a bit crookedly, but she lives life to the fullest every day. Acupuncture was truly a gift for Savannah and her family. Dr. Friedhofer is excited to be able to offer this treatment now to her own patients. The best way to reach her is either via phone or the email listed on this page. She looks forward to hearing from you and discussing how TCVM might benefit your pet.
