Tessa’s B&T has a few more days left! Safe to say the foundation for a focused heel and various commands by voice and/or hand have been set!
Walks are better off-leash..
No incessant sniffing or pulling 🚫

Owning a dog should be a motivator to get you out and about. If your dogs behavior is causing the exact opposite to occur for you - you know who to email…

This is E-Collar training done correctly! Utilizing technology to facilitate communicating to your dog can and will provide incredible clarity for them.
Do you want your dog to have a lightning fast recall? Do this..
•
During the Pup Foundation Program, I explain classically conditioning the dogs name with a positive - this can be a major hurdle with a puppy who is constantly “finding trouble”
•
Following this, we use opposition reflex as a means of sending the dog between owners.
•
1. Slight tension
2. Command
3. Dog resists
4. Owner sends
5. Praise before secondary command!

The place to work on mitigating reactivity or encouraging neutrality is not at a dog park 🚫

Find a friend, or a trainer, with a reliable dog!
It begins with walks… 🚶

Check out the video ⬇️ Watch the major progress in (1) session! I’ll describe what you’re watching 👀 and I am doing here….!
•
(1) Ensure dogs are on slip collars|prong - absolutely NO 🙅🏻♂️ flat collars or harnesses
(2) One dog is in a sit (Armani, to my left) with the owners foot slightly in front of the dog.
Be quiet 🤫 your dog isn’t a child and they do not need constant reassurance.
(3) At first, leave a small gap, followed by the other owner with their dog being furthest away! As both dogs remain neutral - pay them 💸
(not literally - food|verbal|physical praise)
(4) Repeat, this time with owner the furthest away and dogs only separated by a non-physical barrier (do not do this with a fence!) You’ll see the Mal pup (Rocky) lunge and attempt to bark; he is given a correction for this.
(5) Continue, again and again and again.. 🔁
Be sure to switch positions (sit|down|stand or walk on by) praising and correcting as needed.
Do you need guidance on this?

This is a longer video - I made a conscious effort to record as much as I could of their Board & Train. Everything the dogs are seen doing individually, they can also do as a pair. This foundation is a major benefit of sending your dog away to be trained for a short period. If the owner’s keep up - they’ll have many years of well behaved dogs.
•
Small dogs can be trained - you just rarely see it. I am confident they’ll be able to roam their large, fence-free property when they return with a reliable recall as well as obey their place command while their human ”siblings” run around the yard.
The focused heel is commonly taught via food luring - especially with puppies. Hold the food in the hand closest to where your pup is walking (left side, left hand).
•
Initially, slowly release food every step. As your dog progresses, begin to release food every 3 steps, 5 steps, 7 steps, etc. to build duration..
•
This just scratches the surface, but I love seeing progress videos from clients such as this with TCC pup Simon.

She’s not even 3 yet!
“[Buddy] fetching his toy, returning, downing right away and leaving it for me to throw again. Completely unheard of for him. I can actually play fetch with him now and not have to worry about a fight or someone getting hurt.”
“Thank you!” was the text I got from Buddy’s owner, followed by the above 👆🏼. Updates like this are what I strive for.
Buddy is a very intelligent 3.5 year old Malinois - it’s not easy instilling obedience training and new concepts to a dog in their prime. If anyone has dealt with this breed, possessive behavior is a real thing and it can be dangerous.. Communicate with the dog properly, and it can be resolved. Happy with this guys progress is an understatement.
