Update from Chance's (Thumper's) adopter. Senior kitty Chance weighed almost 30 lbs when he came in!! Thanks to first his kind foster and now his wonderful adopter, he's doing so well!
"I thought you might like to see some pictures of Chance taken lately. He's gotten more comfortable as time goes by. He is delightfully affectionate! He has been more active as he loses weight. He and Delilah chase each other around and he likes to do the zoomies in the evening. One of his favorite places is on my lap or next to me, which is a pleasant surprise.
Thank you for allowing Chance to come with me and thrive."

Kim messaged us an update on Shannon! "Today is Shannon's 3rd birthday, she is saying hi and enjoying her birthday watching birds in the 🌞!"

Adopter Jennifer sent us this cute update: "He’s still Lukas. At 9 months old and 11 lbs, he’s a curious kitten in a big cat’s body. The houseplants have been no match for him. He’s always busy playing and checking everything out, so he’s not a big snuggler yet but he’s working on it. He’s still as soft as a bunny!"

CASPER is a big hunk of handsome kitty love. He is 3 years old. He is FIV+, so should be the only cat or with another FIV+ kitty friend.

FIV is not contagious to people or dogs. FIV is "Feline Immunodeficiency Virus". This means the kitty can have less resistance to germs and viruses, similar to human immunodeficiency viruses. It is not a death sentence, and is not contagious to people or dogs. Many FIV+ cats live normal, long lives when kept indoors and given routine vet care, which all cats should anyway! Please don't let this scare you away from adopting such a great loving kitty!

Whiskers Pet Rescue is a no-kill cat rescue organization in Southbury, Connecticut. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity committed to helping and caring for cats and kittens who have been abandoned, injured, abused, or neglected. We do not receive any government funding. Our rescue is funded entirely by donations from our supporters and adoption fees, plus a few grants that we apply for. We have approximately 140 volunteers. We're a hard-working group of people with a huge passion for helping our whiskered friends. We rescue and adopt out hundreds of cats and kittens each year, placing them in loving forever homes.

Oliver, now Zuko, was adopted in April of 2024. He is very comfortable in his home, enjoys cuddles and being loved on by his adopters and they are considering adopting a companion kitty for him. ❤️🐈‍⬛

A Polish legend tells the tale
Of tiny kittens, oh so frail.

Along the river's edge they chased.
With butterflies, they played and raced.

They came too close to the river's side,
And, thus, fell in. Their mother cried.

What could she do but weep and moan?
Her babies' fate were yet unknown.

The willows, by the river, knew
Just what it was that they must do.

They swept their graceful branches down
Into the waters, all around.

To reach the kittens was their goal;
A rescue mission, heart and soul.

The kittens grasped the branches tight.
The willows saved them from their plight.

Each springtime since, the story goes,
Willow branches now wear clothes.
