Yesterday, our team at UrgentVet Mckinney had the solemn honor of providing care for K9 Officer Azi, a devoted partner who gave his life in the line of duty. Azi was a hero, a protector, and a beloved member of the McKinney Police Department.

Our hearts go out to Azi’s handler, fellow officers, and all who knew and loved him. His dedication and bravery will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, K9 Officer Azi. You were deeply loved, and your service will always be remembered. It was a privilege to care for you.

🚨 OFFICIAL STATEMENT: OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING 🚨

The McKinney Police Department has released an official statement regarding the officer-involved shooting that occurred on March 13, 2025, at the Red Roof Inn on 1300 North Central Expressway.

The investigation remains active and has been turned over to the Texas Rangers. There is no ongoing threat to the public.

To enhance the care we deliver to pets and to better serve the local veterinary practices with whom we partner, we have decided to transfer all pet care from our Southlake location to UrgentVet Plano or UrgentVet Frisco. Cooper gave his parents quite a scare after they discovered a chewed-up battery and noticed black stains in his mouth. 😱🔋 Thankfully, they acted quickly and brought him to us! This sweet girl is Penny! 💕 After her parents noticed she had some bloody diarrhea, they brought her in for urgent care. Our team quickly performed a few diagnostics to identify the cause of her symptoms and started her on fast-acting diarrhea medication while she was in the clinic. Penny also went home with oral gastric support and a special diet to help her tummy heal. To top it off, she rocked her very own bandana—because every brave patient deserves a little extra love and style!

This sweet senior furbaby stole our hearts with his gentle soul and loving demeanor. After running some diagnostic tests, we discovered Gus was experiencing hypoglycemia, which means his blood sugar levels were too low. Low blood sugar can make pets feel weak, lethargic, or unwell, so we quickly provided stabilization and comfort care to help him feel better. 🐕🩹

Gus was then transferred to the ER for further monitoring, but we feel so lucky to have spent some time with this amazing boy. We are sending him lots of love and healing vibes!
