ctuary, Inc. is a non-profit 501C-3 that rescues donkey's before going to slaughter, have been abused or neglected, or just in need of a good home. We train them for Donkey-Assisted Activities and Therapies to Inspire & Heal the Human Spirit for Veterans, First Responders, Children & Other Adults. At the same we provide a Lifelong Loving Home to Donkeys and more Love they have ever known. I am Jules Peterson, Founder and Director of the 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Charity “Loving Long Ears Donkey Therapy & Sanctuary, Inc.” My purpose is to partner Donkey’s and humans with healing for both! We work with Veterans, First Responders, Children & Other Adults to create a synergy between donkeys and humans that inspires and heals. Our purpose is to brighten someone's day or facilitate one's future. Donkeys are natural at expecting & modeling behavior which aides in communicating wellness skills to clients. We mainly rescue donkeys on their way to slaughter or in need of a new home & provide the love, care they have never known. We rehabilitate and train them for Donkey-Assisted Activities and Therapies. Rescue Donkeys are some of life’s best teachers. Their love and loyalty is the greatest executioner of human emotions & they show us how to love unconditionally, slow down, appreciate the simple things & learn to trust again... even after terrible hurt. 2020 has found us in uncharted territory but we are moving forward despite the setbacks presented by COVID-19. The pandemic has changed how we must function in daily and necessitated a change from beginning programs to focus on continued training and 24/7 care for the donkeys. We are SO VERY GRATEFUL to those who so Kindly help us to continue our work! Caring for rescues requires a lot of specialized care and attention. Every single $, £ or € in the form of a Donation or Sponsorship Helps us provide for the Donkey’s veterinary needs, nutrition – as well as physical, emotional, behavioral rehab and training. They are Cared for Every day and night and given the Love, Compassion, and Attention some of them have never known. I watched my mother endure 16 years of Alzheimer’s and wanted to some day be able to offer those suffering from this disease and their families a sanctuary of love and unconditional acceptance. My heart is always filled with gratitude when I see the beautiful synergy of our therapy donkey's offering their support. 🙏💕 At Loving Long Ears we believe communicating effectively with someone who has dementia or Alzheimer’s is not just about using language, it is connecting through their senses. Our trained donkey's as docile intuitive animals who can smell how we feel, provide this through touch, visual cues, and love.

Thank you to our LLE Volunteer Joe, who finished installing security fencing around the entire paddock which came to over $200. Peaches & Georgies hooves are so little we were always worried about them getting caught in the fencing when they roll and also keeps some of the leaves from blowing in (donkeys love to roll!) 🫏💕 It took a day to install & we are so grateful to not have to worry anymore! 🙏

We had so much fun at our Donkey Fall Festival Halloween Event! 🍂🫏🎃 Our Theme was the Addams Family this year, and each donkey was dressed as a character from the show, and they are very used to getting dressed in comfortable outfits! 😊 Couldn't have done this without the help from our awesome LLE Volunteers and Kelly Dickenson who is a seamstress who made Giovani & Georgies outfits! 🧡

LOVING LONG EARS DONKEY FALL FESTIVAL HALLOWEEN EVENT! 🎃 After four weeks with no rain, Texas decided to storm on our Donkey Fall Festival Halloween Event.🍂🦇 The beautiful thing is guests still showed up to support the donkeys, even when having to put them in the barn twice due to lightning. Wow, what a wind we had blow through North Texas! And along with it comes a multitude of leaves! 🌬🍂 Our donkey's love to eat the fallen leaves, even more than their hay. The problem is too many leaves can impact their stomach and they are all having GI upsets with diarrhea.🙃 I give them a pre & probiotic to help the donkey's stomachs. The only way to keep them from eating large amounts of leaves is to rake & pick them up. We could really use more help with this, if anyone wants to burn some calories, or knows of kids who could use some school community hours, I would be grateful for your help! 🙏🫏 lovinglongears.org 🧡

Here we go North Texas... From 80 degrees on Monday to feeling like 39 degrees Thursday morning! Fortunately our donkeys have all adapted to our fast temperature changes, that can at times cause a colic condition with Equine. 🫏 lovinglongears.org ❤️

The wonderful thing about social media is making new friends you would haven't had met otherwise. 💛 A wonderful surprise to have a Facebook friend Greg Jarvis here in North Texas from Colorado visit Loving Long Ears with his parents! Greg helps head up some of the B***o (Donkey) Races in Colorado, which is on my bucket list to see next spring! 🫏 lovinglongears.org💙
