At the same we provide a Lifelong Loving Home to Donkeys and more Love they have ever known. I am Jules Peterson, Founder and Director of the 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Charity “Loving Long Ears Donkey Therapy & Sanctuary, Inc.” My purpose is to partner Donkey’s and humans with healing for both! We work with Veterans, First Responders, Children & Other Adults to create a synergy between donkeys and humans that inspires and heals. Our purpose is to brighten someone's day or facilitate one's future. Donkeys are natural at expecting & modeling behavior which aides in communicating wellness skills to clients. We mainly rescue donkeys on their way to slaughter or in need of a new home & provide the love, care they have never known. We rehabilitate and train them for Donkey-Assisted Activities and Therapies. Rescue Donkeys are some of life’s best teachers. Their love and loyalty is the greatest executioner of human emotions & they show us how to love unconditionally, slow down, appreciate the simple things & learn to trust again... even after terrible hurt. 2020 has found us in uncharted territory but we are moving forward despite the setbacks presented by COVID-19. The pandemic has changed how we must function in daily and necessitated a change from beginning programs to focus on continued training and 24/7 care for the donkeys. We are SO VERY GRATEFUL to those who so Kindly help us to continue our work! Caring for rescues requires a lot of specialized care and attention. Every single $, £ or € in the form of a Donation or Sponsorship Helps us provide for the Donkey’s veterinary needs, nutrition – as well as physical, emotional, behavioral rehab and training. Most of our kids & adults who come for sessions have been off for the summer... but look who had to stop by just to say hi! 😀💙 Benjamin & Houston have been coming to LLE for four years and are like family, so the donkeys were very happy to see two of their best friends that they have been missing! ⭐️ Buffy had to cry when they left. ❤️🫏

Update on our sweet little foster dog Marshmellow with a heart marking on his side. 🤍🖤 So many animals end up getting sick in kennel pounds or with donkey kill pens... After we took him in his kennel cough became worse & was lethargic. After three visits to vet's we found out he also had phenomia. He was not wanting to eat or drink water. We started him on a new antibiotic while having to be creative to get them down becase he's so smart! We also gave him a few IV of fluids. A few days later he's now acting perky & was so happy to see him wagging his tail when I came home from the barn. We are keeping him inside with a nice bed in our laundry room isolated from our dog Ellie & I slept on the floor eith him a couple nights. I wanted to share these precious photos of the two excited to see eachother through the door. 💕 He's an absolutely sweet & house trained dog who loves to cuddle & be near you all the time! 💗 (Photo from today & of when he was not feeling good) 🐾
❤️ We are still needing help with what has become an urgent Summer Go-Fund Me for the donkeys! 🫏 Thank you & blessings to friends who have donated to make a big differnce in helping us through the summer months! 🙏 One of the first items we desperatly need are panels along the pasture & paddock. Giovani is getting bigger and at age two doesn't know better than to break through what we've had. He could seriously hurt himself & may have to re-home if we are not able to soon safely secure him. He loves his home with us & we all love him so much! 💙 The Go-Fund Me will also help support summer vaccinations, a custom theraputic boot needed for Daisy, on going feeding of hay + supplements, shavings, insurance, and high electric bills. Laura who is a cancer survivor & her daughter Sophia recently started volunteering as a mom & daughter team. 🧡💚 Karen is another volunteer who works full time, has two teenage boys & also a cancer survivor! 🩷 I'm so inspired by Laura and Karen who have both come through late stage cancer and have the most amazing outlook on life and wanting to help others! 🙏💕 I have a feeling being with the donkeys is healing for them as well! Happy 4th if July from Ellie! 🇺🇸 She was a failed foster from a year ago and has become a big Loving part of our family! 🩷🐾
Update on our precious foster marshmellow, who I think could have a better name considering he has a heart marking on his side & nose. 🤍🖤 He loves playing with his teddy bear! 🧸🐾 We are still treating him with antibiotics for kennel cough, which is typical for dogs coming from the pound. He's enjoying being able to have a soft bed to lay on inside & exploring our fenced in yard! He was in a cage thats a size for a rabbit for at least 3 weeks, laying in his urine & sores on his elbows from the hard surface. This noy will never have to experience anything like that again! 💗

Surprise pop up storm flash flood, lightning & large hail in North Texas! All the donkeys were scared & a challange to get them quickly under cover! We weren't prepared as it only showed 15% rain. ⛈️ Everyone is fine. 🫏💗
