Small intact male dog was caught in nadeau today in a live trap after many attempts over the last couple weeks to catch him! He is safe with someone at the moment and seems to be quite comfy;) If anyone recognizes him please PM me! Please share share share

So we have been questioned by a few clients on what steps we are taking with this new dog respiratory illness that has struck the US! We are doing our part to clean to the best of our abilities all day long and we normally don’t let dogs associate with each other while in the shop! But what we do ask is if you notice your dog isn’t feeling well that you let us know and we can gladly reschedule you to another day;) We are always looking out for the safety of your pups when they come in ❤️

You guys! I have some EXCITING NEWS!! 😁

Please help me Congratulate Samantha Mcleod on the purchase of The Rustic Paw!!! I love seeing good things happen to good people and I couldn't be more excited for Sam to be the one take over the shop! Sam shows care and compassion to all of the dogs she grooms and their well being is top priority. I know she is dedicated to her career and I can't wait to see all the great things that happen to her in the future!

I also would like to say THANK YOU to all of my wonderful clients that have supported me over the last 18+ years!! From a small shop in my garage to this shop now, I am blessed to have made so many friends along the way! I am not retiring or leaving any time soon and plan to work as long as Sam keeps me around! 😉

To answer a few questions:

You are all so special to us and we are grateful for every one of you! Your trust and loyalty has been the foundation of the success of The Rustic Paw and we appreciate your continued support.

This part of running a business isn't easy and after careful consideration, we are announcing that beginning in September there will be a 5 to 10 dollar increase in price depending on the size of your dog. This is a necessary step in being able to continue to provide the quality care that your pets deserve and to keep up with the continued rise in products and business expenses.

We understand that price increases can be challenging and truly appreciate your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us.

Hey everyone! Just a heads up, with the milder temps, the skunks are out! I just got a text from my mom that a skunk sprayed very close to their fenced in yard. Thankfully, her dogs didn't get sprayed. However, if your dog should get sprayed, here is a homemade recipe to help in a pinch:

DO NOT WET DOG!
Mix equal parts of peroxide and baking soda and add a sq**rt of dawn dish soap. Slather on your dog (DO NOT GET IN EYES) and let sit a bit, then rinse well. Follow up with a rinse of 1 cup of white vinegar to a bucket of water and pour over affected area, avoiding eyes, and rinse thoroughly again. Towel dry.

This is the best recipe that I have found for removing skunk smell. Hopefully you never need it 🙂

Hey everyone! Today, a client who was trying to schedule an appointment for her dog via text to our shop number received a message back that she was blocked from sending messages. She messaged me directly and was wondering why we would block her. I called her immediately and let her know we would never do such a thing! I am guessing the reason she received this message was because our shop phone is like a landline and can not receive text messages. The phone company must have generated this message, and I had no idea that they even did this! It makes us look like big ole meanies!! So, just a friendly reminder, we can not receive text messages on The Rustic Paw phone number, only phone calls. We look forward to hearing the phone ring! 😊

**We are now scheduling 2023 appointments for anyone who would like to be on a regular rotating schedule, whether it's every 4 weeks or 4 months. You do not have to schedule ahead. We can and will still accommodate clients who prefer to call to book their appointments one at a time. Sorry for any confusion by the original post! Have a great day! 😊

Lately we have been getting an overwhelming amount of last minute cancelations and no shows. We had six alone this week. I hate to do this but effective immediately we will now require at least a 24 hr notice when canceling or you will be charged 50% of your missed appointment to reschedule another. We love what we do but at the end of the day, grooming is our income.

We try to be as accommodating as possible when scheduling and we give out appointment cards and do reminder calls the day before. We understand that emergencies happen and not every situation is the same but for most it is lack of planning.

We are nearly booked until the end of the year so if you should miss your appointment, you will have to wait until we either have an opening or until your next scheduled appointment.

I will be out of the shop until November as I had foot surgery and am unable to walk on that foot. Sam is running the shop and I ask that you PLEASE be on time for your appointments ( if you are more than 15 minutes late your appointment will be rescheduled) and promptly return to pick up your dog when called. If you cannot pick up right away, please mention this BEFORE you bring your dog as she may have to reschedule you to a different day. Sam does have a young son in school.
