Hey, everybody! My name is Pipper, and I'm so thankful. I’m a rescue from Northern California, but thanks to you, SpokAnimal C.A.R.E., and Specialized Pet Solutions, I finally have a chance to live my best life. You see, I was born without any back feet. It made getting around a little less than desirable. But thanks to your generosity, SpokAnimal raised enough money for Specialized Pet Solutions to fit me with two prosthetics. I couldn’t keep my eyes off owner Angela Boncz as she created my new feet! I love them! There’s no stopping me now! Thank you for knowing all I needed was a little love and a way to walk, run, and play like other dogs. Soon, I'll be available for adoption. Please call SpokAnimal at (509-534-8133). We're in the news again 🥳 Thank you to The Inlander for taking the time to interview Angela Boncz, the owner of Specialized Pet Solutions 🎉 You'll see us soon in an upcoming issue 😍
Country music singer-songwriter Jessica Lynn will tell you she’s got a lot of fight inside her. It turns out that Audrey, her rescue dog, does, too. Now, thanks to Joey's PAW and Specialized Pet Solutions, Audrey got her groove back.
“I'm a big believer you meet everybody when you're supposed to meet them, "Jessica Lynn said.
That’s what happened with Audrey. Jessica Lynn is a huge animal lover but didn’t follow animal rescue pages on social media. Too much heartbreak. And then there was her upcoming 100-city 15-country tour in 2020.
But COVID forced her to cancel. Suddenly, her Facebook feed changed.
“My social media flooded with this dog's face. Friends were posting about it. I had just interviewed with this magazine for my career, and they reposted her story," Jessica Lynn said. "I kept seeing her face, and her story broke my heart."
Rescuers had found Audrey on a cold concrete slab in an abandoned house in Texas. It’s difficult to imagine her injuries: both back legs cut off, a spinal injury that made her incontinent. Just like that, Jessica Lynn’s life changed. So did Audrey’s. Despite Jessica Lynn and her husband’s initial plan to keep Audrey while looking for a permanent home, they fell in love.
Healing Audrey didn’t come easy.
“She had nine surgeries on each leg to get the wounds to close. No vets, no doctors, really knew what to tell us,” Jessica Lynn explained.
Finally, an experimental surgery gave her a fighting chance for prosthetics. But that presented an entirely different set of challenges.
Company after company turned her down. Then Jessica Lynn and Audrey found Joey's PAW, an online fundraiser dedicated to helping special needs dogs live their best lives. Joey's PAW founder, Tanya Diable, stepped in.
“We had this dream of legs that took the pressure off the bottoms,” Jessica Lynn explained. “Tanya told us she’d been working with an amazing woman in Washington state, so here we are."

Specialized Pet Solutions focuses on allowing animals to live their best lives. But we never imagined our work would mean so much to one customer that he'd write a song featuring owner Angela Boncz.
Randy Sherwyn named his Sheltie Zuzu after the role a friend, Karolyn Grimes, played in It's a Wonderful Life. But not that long ago, he worried he'd lose Zuzu.
It all started when an emergency veterinarian trip showed kidney failure, pancreatitis, and a leg fracture. Vets urged him to put down the 10-year-old dog.
Randy refused. "When you love something, and you're responsible for it, you do what you can do,” he told us.
A special diet helped heal her internally, but Zuzu lost part of her leg. Randy started the search for a prosthetic.
"Three different prosthetic animal places turned me down," Randy explained. "Then I found Specialized Pet Solutions and Angela (the owner) on the web. And she said she’d help me. She did. And it cost about half as much as other companies estimated.”
Our work made such a difference that Randy added Specialized Pets Owner Angela Boncz to the lyrics.
Here’s what he wrote. “Finally, a woman named Angela came through
Built her a leg, now she’s walking brand new
Happy dances on the floor like she was four
Her spirit shines brighter than ever before”
We can’t thank you enough for the song, Randy. (Although we must admit, we tear up every time we listen to it.) We are thrilled Zuzu is living her best life.

Meet Wilson (and yes, he was named after the volleyball in the film Castaway). Not that long ago, Wilson tore his CCL. That’s the human equivalent of the ACL. But he’s back in action after Specialized Pet Solutions designed and fit him with a stifle brace. The device stabilizes his knee and will prevent him from hyperextending and reinjuring it. It's just another walk on the beach for our team! Learn more about Specialized Pet Solutions at our website: https://specializedpetsolutions.com/.
When we first met Draco, we fell in love with his ice-blue eyes ❤️ But he had a problem. This girl is on fire 🔥 What Gracie can do with two and a half legs would exhaust most of us 😳 It's hard to believe about five months ago, vets removed Gracie’s right “chicken wing” leg and partially amputated her left leg because of a debilitating birth defect 😢 Specialized Pet Solutions owner Angela Boncz built her a prosthetic, and Gracie hasn’t slowed down since 🥳 Gracie, we are so lucky to have watched you thrive and know we’re helping you live your best life 😍
The devastation in California is unimaginable. Our hearts are broken for everyone impacted by the fires. Our respect goes to the firefighters and first responders who ran INTO the fires to save people and animals ❤️
A life-changing mission: Meet the woman helping injured pets thrive.
For many of us, pets are more than just animals; they are family. We will do whatever it takes to ensure their happiness and well-being. In Washington and Idaho, where an estimated 60-70% of people have pets, providing adequate care when our furry friends are injured can sometimes feel overwhelming. Traditional healthcare for pets isn’t always affordable or accessible.
That’s why Angela Boncz decided to create Specialized Pet Solutions, a business focused on building and fitting orthotics and prosthetics for pets.
This is Angela’s story and the story of Diesel, a four-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer and Terrier mix.
Diesel tore his CCL, the canine equivalent of a human ACL, about five months ago. Diesel’s injury left him, a normally athletic and energetic dog, feeling depressed and lethargic. But his family had hope that a custom brace would restore his mobility and spirit.
That hope led them to Specialized Pet Solutions, where Angela Boncz designs and creates braces for animals of all shapes and sizes.
Angela Boncz began her career helping humans, graduating from an orthotics and prosthetics technical program at Spokane Falls Community College.
But everything changed when she adopted a dog in need. “The surgery my dog needed was beyond what I could afford,” Boncz explained. “So, I decided to try making a brace myself. It worked, and that was my lightbulb moment,” said Boncz.
She began crafting braces for pets while working as a subcontractor for other companies. Then, in 2017, a chance encounter solidified her new career path. Boncz said, “I rescued a three-legged miniature pony,” she recalled. “That’s when I knew this was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.”
Specialized Pet Solutions serves a wide variety of animals, from traditional pets like dogs to farm animals. On average, the company creates 10-15 braces per week, though the workload can v
The team at Specialized Pet Solutions is excited to share our message with KREM 2 News viewers thanks to photojournalist Dave Somers. Dave followed our work with Diesel, a German Shorthaired Pointer with the cutest face you can imagine! Diesel tore his CCL. That’s the canine equivalent of our ACL. But he’s sporting a brand-new stifle brace instead of facing expensive and invasive surgery. Diesel's mom is as excited as we are to see his progress. "I wish I had gone sooner,” C. Fermo said. “I’m excited to see the improvement in our pup's healing and how much more active he will be able to be!” Thank you, Diesel and Dave! We can’t wait to see your progress, Diesel, and Dave's story on KREM 2 News. Learn more about Specialized Pet Solutions at our website: https://specializedpetsolutions.com/.
