Call it serendipity.

Specialized Pet Solutions owner Angela Boncz recently received an email from a Baltimore veterinarian looking for a particular brace for a client. To make the point, the vet included an image of a dog wearing a brace.

Angela did a double take. She knew the dog, Wilma, and recognized the brace as one she had built when she worked in Virginia.

It didn’t take long to track down Wilma’s human, Steve. He’s a former New York firefighter and couldn’t wait to talk about Wilma. She’s crossed the rainbow bridge, but Steve praised Angela for the brace that gave her a shot at living her best life.

“My sweet Wilma was born deformed with a slew of other problems,” Steve wrote. “They wanted to put her down at six months old, as well as amputate her front leg. But she lived until she was 15. She rocked her prosthetic and had a badass life.”

We’re so glad to hear that, Steve, and we are thrilled we made a difference in your lives.

*****Update: ICE AGE Blue (blue swirl) is the winner. We will get started on this today!

You helped SpokAnimal C.A.R.E. raise enough money to get little Pipper a shot at living his best life. Now, you can help choose the color for the prosthetics Specialized Pet Solutions will make so he can walk, run, and play like other dogs.

The one-and-a-half-year-old Chihuahua rescue came to Spokane from Northern California. But SpokAnimal didn't expect to find that he was missing his rear feet.

After a successful fundraiser, Specialized Pet Solutions wants your help choosing the perfect color for his new legs.

Be sure to cast your vote in the comments of this post. Do you like A (blue), B (tie-dye), or C (orange)? We'll let you know the results and update you on little Pipper's progress.

By the way, Pipper is available for adoption. Please contact SpokAnimal C.A.R.E. (509-534-8133) if you'd like to invite Pipper into your heart and home.

Country music singer-songwriter Jessica Lynn will tell you she’s got a lot of fight inside her. It turns out that Audrey, her rescue dog, does, too. Now, thanks to Joey's PAW and Specialized Pet Solutions, Audrey got her groove back.

“I'm a big believer you meet everybody when you're supposed to meet them, "Jessica Lynn said.

That’s what happened with Audrey. Jessica Lynn is a huge animal lover but didn’t follow animal rescue pages on social media. Too much heartbreak. And then there was her upcoming 100-city 15-country tour in 2020.

But COVID forced her to cancel. Suddenly, her Facebook feed changed.

“My social media flooded with this dog's face. Friends were posting about it. I had just interviewed with this magazine for my career, and they reposted her story," Jessica Lynn said. "I kept seeing her face, and her story broke my heart."

Rescuers had found Audrey on a cold concrete slab in an abandoned house in Texas. It’s difficult to imagine her injuries: both back legs cut off, a spinal injury that made her incontinent. Just like that, Jessica Lynn’s life changed. So did Audrey’s. Despite Jessica Lynn and her husband’s initial plan to keep Audrey while looking for a permanent home, they fell in love.

Healing Audrey didn’t come easy.

“She had nine surgeries on each leg to get the wounds to close. No vets, no doctors, really knew what to tell us,” Jessica Lynn explained.

Finally, an experimental surgery gave her a fighting chance for prosthetics. But that presented an entirely different set of challenges.

Company after company turned her down. Then Jessica Lynn and Audrey found Joey's PAW, an online fundraiser dedicated to helping special needs dogs live their best lives. Joey's PAW founder, Tanya Diable, stepped in.

“We had this dream of legs that took the pressure off the bottoms,” Jessica Lynn explained. “Tanya told us she’d been working with an amazing woman in Washington state, so here we are."

Enter Specialized Pets Solutions and owner Angela Boncz. Audrey is a tough case, but Angela didn't miss a beat.

"It was never like, 'Oh, I've got to fix these again.' She wanted to get it right, and we really haven’t seen that before,” said Jessica Lynn.

You can catch Audrey running and playing these days. She makes the rounds in her New York neighborhood to visit and play with her other dog friends.

"In an instant, your life can change," Jessica Lynn said. "She was sitting on a cold concrete floor in an abandoned shack with tendons hanging out of her legs. She had so many infections. Then, one day, you’re in a car headed to a different state. Then you get adopted, and your whole life changes, and you’re eating salmon dinner every night.”

Not bad for a woman and a dog with a lot of fight left in them.

Specialized Pet Solutions focuses on allowing animals to live their best lives. But we never imagined our work would mean so much to one customer that he'd write a song featuring owner Angela Boncz.

Randy Sherwyn named his Sheltie Zuzu after the role a friend, Karolyn Grimes, played in It's a Wonderful Life. But not that long ago, he worried he'd lose Zuzu.

It all started when an emergency veterinarian trip showed kidney failure, pancreatitis, and a leg fracture. Vets urged him to put down the 10-year-old dog.

Randy refused. "When you love something, and you're responsible for it, you do what you can do,” he told us.

A special diet helped heal her internally, but Zuzu lost part of her leg. Randy started the search for a prosthetic.

"Three different prosthetic animal places turned me down," Randy explained. "Then I found Specialized Pet Solutions and Angela (the owner) on the web. And she said she’d help me. She did. And it cost about half as much as other companies estimated.”

Our work made such a difference that Randy added Specialized Pets Owner Angela Boncz to the lyrics.

Here’s what he wrote. “Finally, a woman named Angela came through

Built her a leg, now she’s walking brand new

Happy dances on the floor like she was four

Her spirit shines brighter than ever before”

We can’t thank you enough for the song, Randy. (Although we must admit, we tear up every time we listen to it.) We are thrilled Zuzu is living her best life.

The team at Specialized Pet Solutions takes pride in offering competitive prices. On their website, you'll notice their prices are lower than those of their competitors. The key to this affordability is their low overhead.

"We're not sacrificing quality at all," explained Angela Boncz, the owner of Specialized Pet Solutions. "We build our products using the same materials and techniques used for humans."

A significant factor contributing to their lower overhead is that the workshop is located at Angela's home, just 20 minutes south of Spokane in Spangle, WA. Additionally, Angela serves as the primary fabricator, and there is only one other employee.

By operating from her home, Angela avoids the expenses of a large commercial building, and these savings are passed on to the clients. For example, Specialized Pet Solutions offers dog knee braces for CCL tears at $695, while other companies start at $795. However, the real savings will be noticed with animal prosthetics. Specialized Pet Solutions dog prosthetics start at $895, and their nearest competitors' starting prices range from $1,225 to $2,125.

Angela emphasizes, "There are no hidden fees; the base price includes shipping for the casting kit, the final product, and taxes. The only variation would be for international shipping."

Once a client purchases a device, the only additional cost is shipping the cast back to Specialized Pet Solutions for molding, which typically costs between $12 and $15. Everything else is included in the price. The casting and fitting appointments are also included if a client is local to Eastern Washington or the Pacific Northwest.

"The process is pretty smooth, and often the hardest part for the customer is choosing the color for the brace," says Angela.

There’s no need to worry; Angela and her Specialized Pet Solutions team will assist you at every step, including helping you find the right color and design for your pet’s unique device.

Specialized Pets Solutions is celebrating a win with two baby goats jumping for joy!

Owner Angela Boncz welcomed a family member from Idaho to her Spangle shop. Tami Ross brought two kids born with tendon and ligament issues that made their little lives challenging.

Angela created splints for the babies, and that’s all it took to get these two kids off to the races!

All it took was a couple of weeks and their ligaments have already been corrected! Tami and Angela are thrilled because, honestly, who doesn’t love baby goats?

Now, thanks to Specialized Pet Solutions, these two kids have a chance to live their best lives.

Service and commitment run deep at Specialized Pet Solutions. This photo shows how much U.S. servicemembers and their sacrifices mean to owner Angela Boncz and her family.

Angela’s mom, Kathy Ashton, made a quilt to commemorate her son, James Doyle’s service as a Navy Hospital Corpsman from 2001 to 2005. He was stationed at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown in Virginia and later transferred to a naval hospital in north Chicago. He qualified as a scuba diver and separated from the service as a Hospital Corpsman, 3rd Class.

His dedication and sacrifice did not go unnoticed. Kathy makes quilts for the Quilts of Valor Foundation to honor service members. She is also part of the Garland Quilts of Valor program in Spokane. That group funnels its passion for sewing and quilting into quilts so that no servicemember's sacrifice goes unnoticed.

James' service followed the proud tradition of his father, Patrick Ashton. Patrick served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970. He was stationed in Germany as a Specialist 5th-class tank crewman.

James, Patrick, Kathy, Angela (and the family dog Sadie) posed for pictures with the handmade quilt. They won’t soon forget this moment or James’ and Patrick’s service. It is a thread that ties them together and stretches across our country as we honor those who gave so we can keep what we hold dear.

Thank you, James, Patrick, and all service members, for your courage and commitment. We will never forget.

Sometimes, you fall in love the minute you meet a special dog like Pippen. Now, Pippen needs your help to get a shot at a happy, healthy life, and the team at Specialized Pet Solutions is ready to make all the difference.

The one-and-a-half-year-old Chihuahua rescue came to Spokane from Northern California. But SpokAnimal C.A.R.E. didn't expect to find that he was missing his rear feet.

"He gets around pretty well," said SpokAnimal C.A.R.E. Executive Director Dori Peck. "But eventually, all that strain on his front legs will cause problems for him."

SpokAnimal is raising $1,500 so Specialized Pet Solutions, based in Spangle, can build and fit Pippen with prosthetics. Dori knows all he needs is a little help and a forever home.

"He has learned to utilize what he has," Dori explained. "He is a super friendly, waggy, happy little guy that would fit in anywhere."

You can help Pippen by donating to https://checkout.shelterluv.com/donate/spok. Be sure to write Pippen in the subject line so your donation will go to him.

All he's ever needed is love and a safe place to flourish.

Please share this post with your family and friends. Thank you.

Talk about a pile of puppies! Meet Tony, George, and Stacy, who are posing for pictures at Specialized Pet Solutions in Spangle. (Their sister Maxine stayed home with her new human).

Our team is helping fit the Great Pyrenees mix pups with braces after rescuers found them in "bad shape" less than two weeks ago. They have carpal hyperextension, which means their wrists have noticeable bends, forcing them to walk on flat paws. Experts suspect malnutrition. The fix is not cheap or easy, but thanks to the national fundraiser Joey's PAW, we can supply four braces for each dog’s legs.

“I'm just going to try and do a soft, split-style brace for them," Angela explained. “We're hoping that will help strengthen and tighten up those ligaments, and we won't need anything after this."

Tony, George, and Stacy are staying at Ducksberg Farm in Athol, Idaho. Workers there need volunteers to help with the dogs. After all, they are timid and must still be trained on a leash. But Angela says the puppies are sweet and love to pile on each other. She’s hopeful they will find fur-ever homes and optimistic the braces will fix their mobility issues so they can live their best lives.

They’ll be back for a fitting next week, and we can’t wait to share their story with you!

The team at Specialized Pet Solutions is grateful and thrilled for the opportunity to help six-month-old puppies rescued in Kootenai County. You'll know why when you see their perfect faces filled with love and hope.

"They are so young," said Specialized Pet Solutions owner Angela Boncz. "If we can save their legs and lives, that will be great."

Rescuers Ducksberg Farm found the Great Pyrenees mix puppies in “bad shape” less than two weeks ago. They have carpal hyperextension. That means their wrists have a noticeable bend, forcing them to walk on flat paws. Experts suspect malnutrition. The fix is not cheap or easy.

“I'm just going to try and do a soft, split-style brace for them because we will need at least ten braces," Angela explained. “We're hoping that will help strengthen and tighten up those ligaments, and we won't need anything after this."

We are amazed at the outpouring of support after our colleagues at the fundraising group, Joey's PAW, posted the estimated splint cost and asked for help. It took one day to raise $2,500.

Specialized Pet Solutions will evaluate the puppies on Thursday, and we’ll let you know what we find. Then, we'll ask for your help finding room in your hearts and homes for one of these little sweethearts so they can live their best lives.

Specialized Pet Solutions invites you to check out our new website. But wait until we tell you the story of the professional who created it!

Luc Boone started web design when he was just 11 years old. “I read books from Comp USA or whatever and mowed lawns so I could buy a computer for myself," Luc said. "Then I started spinning up a web design company."

Then Luc landed his first job – a client who wanted a website to display and share military photos. "I sent him a proposal, worked hard on it, and got a job for what I thought was like a billion dollars,” Luc explained. “But it was only $1,400.”

But there was a catch. The client didn’t know Luc was a kid. Then came the phone call where he couldn’t conceal his age anymore. Here’s how Luc remembers it. “The client laughed and said, ‘Man, that is cool! I couldn’t even ride a bike when I was your age.’ From then on, I didn’t even try to convince people I was an adult. I just said exactly what I was.”

It paid off. The job opened a world of opportunity for the kid from Elk, Washington, north of Spokane. Specialized Pet Solutions found him in his Orlando office. Luke jumped to revamp their website with the customer in mind.

“My approach is to put that SEO (search engine optimization) stuff behind the scenes,” he explained. “That way, I can make a clean, elegant version of a page. That way, people can understand what they’re purchasing and see how many animal species Specialized Pet works with.”

Thank you, Luc and Night Fox! We love your story and your work. Check out our new webpage, and you will, too! https://specializedpetsolutions.com/

"It is hard to find adequate words to express my gratitude for Specialized Pet Solutions! They have given my dog his life back! The custom brace they made for my Rex has made all the difference in the world! He can be the happy dog he once was before his injury! Now that he has his mobility back, his depression is GONE! Angela walked me through the casting process since I live on the other side of the country. She explained everything in such a relatable way that it made the whole process seamless. The turnaround time from mailing off the casting to receiving the completed brace in the mail was lightning-fast! I highly recommend Specialized Pet Solutions to anyone who has a pet with mobility issues. This company has definitely found its calling." -- Jamie Perrilloux ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our Story

Where It All Began

Specialized Pet Solutions all started with Prince the pony. Prince was adopted back in 2005 and was my first client. Prince has been a wonderful friend through the years and I am so happy I took him in and started my journey to help animals.

About Us

We take pride in creating a high-quality product, providing great customer service, and our ability to help animals live a happy and healthy life. We work with some of the top companies in the animal orthotic and prosthetic industry.
