Pyramid Veterinary Hospital was established by Dr. Douglas Nesler in 1982. Since that time, Pyramid Veterinary Hospital has grown to become a 9-doctor practice dedicated to providing compassionate, state of the art care, and outstanding client education. We sincerely appreciate all the trust our clients have placed in our doctors and staff over the past years to care for their beloved family pets.

Without the support and confidence of our clients, we could not have grown and continued to provide the superior care your family pet deserves. PVH is a full service animal hospital that schedules for appointments, surgical and dental procedures, and can handle day-time emergencies. Beyond first rate pet care, we make our clinic comfortable, kid-friendly, and strive for a calm environment so your pet can relax in the waiting room and look forward to meeting his or her own veterinarian.

Does your pup ever seem like they're not quite getting what you're saying? 🤔

Communication with dogs is more than just words! Try using your body language to speak to your furry friend. Approach them with your body angled away and avoid reaching out. Instead, let them come to you when they're ready, and keep your body relaxed and calm. These calming signals will show your pup that you're listening and help them feel safe and understood.

Is your furry friend getting enough exercise? With more than half the pet population classified as overweight or obese, it's important to help your pet maintain their ideal body weight.

Overweight pets are more likely to suffer from musculoskeletal issues like osteoarthritis, cranial cruciate ligament tears, and soft tissue sprains and strains.

Keep your pet healthy and happy by incorporating regular exercise into their routine. Call to talk to your veterinarian for more information on helping your furry friend maintain a healthy weight.

Your dog's body language can tell you a lot about how they're feeling. When evaluating their non-verbal messages, it's crucial to observe their entire body, not just one part. Remember to also consider the context, including their environment and recent events. Understanding your dog's communication style can help you build a stronger bond with them.

All pets (including indoor-only cats) are considered at risk for Lyme disease, as ticks are mobile parasites and can hitch a ride on clothing, bags, or shoes.

Although Lyme disease has never been confirmed in cats outside a laboratory setting, cats should still be considered at-risk as a preventive measure. Protect your furry friend from this debilitating condition by contacting us at .

Fertilizers can pose a risk to your furry friends, so pet owners need to be cautious!

While most fertilizers are safe when used properly, your pet may experience skin irritation or mild gastrointestinal symptoms if they come into contact with or ingest the product. If you think your pet has been exposed to fertilizer, use warm water to remove it from their skin and monitor for any symptoms.

Keep your pet away from fertilized areas to prevent any accidents!🙅

Lyme disease prevention starts with tick prevention. The best way to keep your furry friend safe is to use tick preventives year-round, including the winter months.

Most veterinarian-prescribed preventives kill ticks only a few hours after the initial bite, preventing disease transmission, which requires 24 to 48 hours of attachment.

Contact us at to learn about tick prevention measures that will work best for your pet. Don't wait until it's too late!

Before letting your furry friend play outside, make sure you do a little pet-proofing!

Lawns and gardens can be hazardous if they've been fertilized or sprayed with pesticides, or if garden additives have been used. Make sure to choose pet-safe products and keep curious pets from ingesting fertilizers or repellents.

Also, watch out for toxic plants like lilies, azaleas, sago palms, and tulips. Monitor your pets while outside or transplant these plants to a safer area.

Have you ever seen your cat chattering their teeth while staring intently at a bird or squirrel outside? This behavior might be more instinctual than we realize. Feline behavior specialists have noted the similarity between the teeth chattering noise and the neck bite that wild cats use to quickly kill their prey.

Kittens and cubs in the wild have the opportunity to practice this special bite, but house cats may show their excitement or frustration at seeing potential prey they can't get to. If you notice your cat's tail getting puffy or twitching in a particular way while they make these chattering noises, it's a sign they're getting excited.
