Let’s talk Biothane!

Ever heard of it? If not, let me introduce you to this incredible material that I highly recommend (totally unsolicited and definitely not sponsored).

What is Biothane?
It’s essentially a polyester webbing core encased in a durable coating of TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) or PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)—making it tough, low-maintenance, and perfect for pet gear.

🩷Why I love it:
• Waterproof – It won’t absorb water or odors, making it ideal for wet environments.
• Durable – Resistant to wear, fading, cracking, and peeling.
• Easy to clean – A quick wipe with a damp cloth, and it’s good as new.
• Flexible – Maintains its pliability even in extreme temperatures.

Where to Buy?
Biothane leashes, long lines, and collars are available from many different places including Amazon. No matter where you buy, I highly recommend choosing brass hardware, as it holds up well over time.

Things I’ve learned:
• Lighter colors are easier to see on the ground (especially for long lines), but they do stain over time.
• Safety first – Tripping over a long line is a much bigger concern than how pretty it looks!
• Freedom with control – A 15-foot long line is great for beginners, but you can go up to 100 feet if you’re comfortable managing the extra length. I personally use a 50-foot, 3/8"-wide line enough for dogs to run and play, but if they make bad choices, I can reel them in like a fish.

My Top Recommendation
I highly recommend CSJCreations on Etsy. They customize everything, so expect a bit of a wait but it’s absolutely worth it. Patience is key!

Paws up, everyone—big news! My mom, Erica, has started Method K9 intense dog trainer certification! Over 250 videos (yes, she watches dogs more than me now!), live coaching, go at her own pace (but trust me, she’s all in), and written AND physical testing—which means she better ace it, because I am NOT grading her homework! 🐾 Wish her luck… but honestly, she doesn’t need it. She’s already the best!
