Maverick and Watson 🩵
They ate breakfast and are now snoozing.
We shall see how they get along together later on. I think it will go well. They were very excited to see each other through the kennel which I didn't think would happen. Many dogs get barrier aggression even if they don't want to beat up the other dog. I think anxiety, fear and breed types have a lot to do with it.
But I don't know for sure because the dogs never tell me.

Make “Place” a Party, Not a Punishment

Let’s be real: to a lot of dogs, that elevated cot looks like a weird trampoline of doom. If you immediately start piling on rules, “stay there,” “don’t move,” “no sniffing”, you’re turning a brand-new object into a pressure cooker. That’s not learning, that’s stress.

Instead, make the cot a cool place to be. Toss treats on it. Play games around it. Let your dog explore it without expectations. When “place” feels like a chill hangout spot instead of a command center, your dog will actually want to be there. And that’s when the real training magic happens.

Then your dog can be just like Ida in the picture. Happy to be a slug and relax.

Do your dogs like baths?

The shampoo they use has to sit on them for 5-10 minutes. Which is forever! Ida is over it. Why stand or sit when you can be a slug. 🩷
