DUMPING YOUR DOG IS A PUNISHABLE CRIME...We have had a higher number of dumped dogs lately. You are NOT helping your animal by dumping them. You are increasing their chances of death... Oftentimes, we cannot catch them because they are scared of us. NO it is NOT better for them.
It is only convenient for you... We are overwhelmed at the shelter and FULL once again due to the lack of responsibility that some dog owners have.. Please, if you cannot take care of your dog contact somebody for help. Don't just dump them on their own to survive oftentimes they don't... Also, we do have a county wide leash law... If you are in anywhere in Gallatin county there is a leash law or your dog must be contained in your yard...These areas include GHENT, GLENCOE ,SANDERS, NAPOLEON, SPARTA, VERONA and WARSAW if you have any questions, please contact the shelter at 859-643-3647 Thank you again.. VOUCHER UPDATE- For those of you who have already signed up for vouchers this year, I will begin to call you for voucher pick up Dec 16th . Please remember this is a first come first served service. We will only be able to give them out 5 per week to start so the vet clinic does not get overwhelmed. You will need to bring a drivers license matching the address given at the time of sign up. This is peanut he is good with cat dogs and is neutered if you are interested in seeing him come on up to Gallatin County animal shelter

ADOPTED.........This is Clifford! Clifford definitely lives up to his name , HES A BIG RED DOG!!! Clifford is a lazy boy and loves to lay around but does also like to run outside and play, he is dog, cat, and kid friendly. 70 lbs 3-5years UTD on shots Male neutered Picture in the comments!!

This is Silly! Unfortunately silly doesn’t get along with other dogs but seems to be fine around cats. She is Timid when first meeting people but warms up fairly quickly. Silly is full of energy and loves to run and have zoomies in the yard. Mountain cur mix 43 lbs Not spayed female Picture in the comments!

This is peanut! Peanut doesn’t really like crates but is okay in an outside kennel. He is very energetic and loves to play and run outside. Peanut is dog and cat friendly. 1-2years 43 lbs Neutered male Picture in comments!

This is Bella, she’s a very sweet girl and absolutely loves people, kids and gets along with cats, she just doesn’t like other dogs unfortunately so she would have to go to a NO DOG home. She’s obedient and listens well she loves to run and play outside. Female- not spayed 42 lbs 3 years old Picture in comments!!!
