Wowza!

While I have not had any of my own pending pregnancies to confirm the last few months, some of the Svajone Boys have been busy! I have to say, I feel like a Baby Daddy Pimp waiting on the news for three separate females from three separate breeders! I am glad that all three were able to share good news with us. These breedings were quite the labor of love from everyone involved!

Congratulations Sonny & KA, Lilith & Sara, and Riptide & Kara!

I was a b*tch owner first and foremost. I know the headache of testing, traveling, timing and praying. I am blessed to be able to help with several of these aspects right now. So, I had no problem helping get the boys where they needed to go from IN to SC or FL to CT and back or picking up girls to bring home. Lots of miles and some midnight oil is good for the soul!

I remember when it was just me and Ki. I tried a boy, I placed him. Then her daughters came along and a few outside additions here and there. I swore up and down NO boys. Ever. They are gross. I couldn’t stand the even slower maturity. Nope. Nope. Nope. Girls rule, Boys drool.

Then there was Stoique. He changed my whole world. Turned it right on upside down and.. well.. I haven’t looked back! My love for the girls still burns just as strong, but man on man, my boys just warm my whole heart. I spent several years prioritizing boys. The USA had (and still does) a severe lack of quality males. I made it a personal goal to aid to that uphill battle. I wanted to be able to contribute to the genetic quality and diversity of the gene pool here.

I had and still do, to an extent, the strong ideology that it doesn’t matter who owns the dog. The right fit is the right fit! The priority of strong pairings, improvement upon individual dogs, the continuation of the puzzle pieces is of the upmost importance. We can all put our differences aside at some point.. right? That strong desire that burned brightly was quickly snuffed out to a sad simmer with the nastiness within the breeding community. While its always been the norm for certain cliques to aim their poor attitudes toward me, it just got exhausting.

And quickly bitter thoughts entered my mind. Why would I share any of any my boys? If even just one puppy turns out imperfect, why would I subject them to finger pointing and the blame game?

Then the worry began to gnaw at me, as well. How will the homes be vetted and puppies placed? How will the puppies be raised? What will they be fed? Will they be socialized? Will the husbandry meet my standards? Will I be allowed to follow along with their lives? And so many more. These questions just wouldn’t stop, though they will not bear my kennel name they will be a distant piece of the Svajone Family all the same.

So, I decided. No outside breedings. Just easier that way. Well, that opened the door right up to the guilt that came flooding in. Really woman? You’ve spent countless dollars and hours upon on hours of research to import these promising boys and you’re just going to keep them to yourself? Ridiculous. Let’s not even talk about all the gambling risks. Poor Wes, he has had to listen to it all and watch the funds go flying across the pond lol.

Fine. Close and extremely trusted friends only. Folks that I know respect Mother Nature and how cruelly fickle she can be at the worst times. Folks I have mutual respect with and have appropriate expectations for genetics, puppies, and even owners. But.. what about my strong ideology, one of my foundation pillars of belief?

So back to the drawing board.. trying to compromise with myself might just be the hardest darn thing I’ve tried to accomplish. At this point I might be a problem to myself lol. So, I did my best to draw up a stud dog contract that I felt outlined the stipulations that protected the stud dog and the puppies and truly prioritized my hopes and dreams for any litter I would have myself. If I’m being brutally honest? I probably wouldn’t sign it myself. It would have to be a special dog indeed. Its overbearing and controlling. But, my heart says that my boys are special. Each in their own way. Each bringing something a little different to the table. I justified the ridiculous contract with my heart strings. At the end of the day, no one has to sign it. I have no doubts that it will not be everyone’s cup of tea. And perhaps, the future will bring new hope and promising actions by the breeder community and the contract will loosen up.

So, with that long sap of a story, I am grateful to those that have taken the time to give feedback as I built it and even more so to those that have signed it.

The last baby flew the coop this week! Everyone is settled into their new homes and my heart could not be more full. It was very hard not to keep one of them in house, but I knew that these puppies had the BEST lives waiting for them with their wonderful owners. 💕
I am quite happy with Tolkien’s first litter and look forward to more in the future! 🤩

🥘 HOME FOUND 🥘

-—- Thank you everyone that shared! -—-

Visque is a 1 year old, back and rust male from Sahelyu x Luke. He is 95-100 lbs. big kid! His ears are cropped.

He is insanely happy, bold, and loves to please. He has wonderful foundation on him and knows great basic obedience.

He would thrive in an active home that wants a wonderful companion or to dabble in sports!

He is definitely still a puppy and needs to be managed as such, but he is the sweetest!

He was kept back as a show puppy but sadly is a cryptorchid (meaning one testicle dropped). He will need to be neutered around 2-3 years old.

3️⃣5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣. He is located in NC until tomorrow until he is back in NJ.
