Staffed by volunteers so there is not always someone present. Beginning in 1992 as a non-profit animal rescue group, A.S./A.P. (Associated Society/Animal Protection) evolved into a no-kill, limited capacity cat shelter by 2001. Since it's inception, the independent organization has functioned solely on private donations, fundraisers, and volunteers. There is no financial support from the county, s

tate, or any other group. Our mission is to take in stray cats and kittens as space allows and find permanent, loving homes for them after they're examined by a veterinarian, FIV/Leuk tested, wormed, vaccinated, flea-treated, spayed/neutered plus treated for whatever medical conditions they arrive with-anything from respiratory infections to broken bones and gunshots wounds. We have an outreach program where we can offer some help to people with their own cats (or cats they find) depending upon our available resources. The cats housed at A.S./A.P. get a clean, warm environment with nutritious food, lots of compassionate care, and plenty of time to run, frolic, and interact with other cats and people. There is a wide variety of personalities and surely one that is just right for you. Potential adopters complete an application and are screened for the ability to provide permanent, quality care for a cat. Our staff try to match the adopter with the appropriate cat for their home, and follow-up support is available after the adoption.

He would do best in a home where he can have another cat to be a companion to him. He plays with some of the other cats here at the shelter so it would benefit him to have a playmate. This handsome ginger guy is Mr Peepers! Peepers is a big kitty who enjoys sitting on laps and hanging out. He is a bit particular with who his friends are but loves play wrestling with those who are part of his inner circle. Peepers enjoys his rubs but will let you know when he has had enough so we don’t recommend small children around him. We always love hearing from our former cats' families!
Little Amber came to us with her mom, Ashley, after being rescued from a home of 47 animals by the county humane officer. A sweet kitty, she was adopted soon after.
Her new family renamed her Hochi. She and the resident cat became buddies soon after adoption. Hochi is described as precious, majorly "tortified," loves snuggling, and is the most talkative cat they ever met.
They say she is the love of their lives!

Does this cat belong to anyone on the Southside of Tomah? It is on Dawnee St. very friendly but hanging out on my deck for past few days and causing my cats stress. Does not look starved. Concerned now that is is going to be very cold for several days and want to see if has a home to go to.

Do you know me? Been hanging out at a home located on Goodman Street in Sparta. Finders don’t know the sex of kitty. They said it is very friendly.

Former ASAP kitty, Wizzy, (she is my baby) was attempting to swim I think! She made a big ol mess! She is a crazy girl most days!

Prew was loving her mid morning munch on some oat grass. She thoroughly enjoyed it😻

Jubal loves tossing his catnip banana up in the air! He is a sweet kitten, about seven months old, and would make a great family kitty. He’s very playful and loves other cats. He should have at least one feline buddy in a home. Just a sweetheart 😻

Kitten Jubal(black) and Patch❤️. Jubal is drawn to the adult cats, even though he is almost as big as them at six months old, and seeks comfort and attention from them. Think he still misses his mama. He is a sweet kitty and the last of his litter to be adopted. He would do best in a home with at least one other cat. He’d make a great family kitty😻. Patch is one of our FIV+ cats and is one of the sweetest guys you will ever meet and would make just the best companion for someone 😻. And that is Prew at the end if the clip!

So this happened today! Prew(calico) and kitten Jubal were interacting in the cutest way. Prew doesn’t like most of the other cats but she seems to enjoy the kittens, so it was so sweet watching them. Jubal was following her around walking right next to her really close. Thinking he may miss his mama, who was adopted about a week and a half ago. He is the last of his litter waiting for a forever home. He does still have another kitten as his cage mate, so he’s not alone😊. He’s a sweet guy and would make a great addition to any family. Prew would love to be your one and only but she’d do ok having another feline around as long as it wouldn’t pay her too much attention. She loves her rubs and is a talker. 😻

Mama Carmel and her kitten Violet. Carmel is such a sweet cat and awesome mama. She is looking for her forever home and will fit in to any household. Violet is being spayed soon and then she will be ready for her forever😻.
