Therapeutic job on a mechanical laminitic horse that also has cushings. The horse has come a very long way. First few pictures are from 7/16/23. The following pictures are from today 1/13/24 where the horse is now barefoot!

This was a laminitic horse that had a ton of retained sole and sub solar abcesses in both front feet. Was able to make big progress in just 2 shoeings.

Had to do a resection on this horse due to white line disease. Shod the foot with quarter clips and a Nc tool quarter crack patch kit to reduce expansion of the foot when under load.

Therapeutic case from today. Horse had a previous coronet band injury that caused a compromised section of foot to grow that eventually cracked all the way to the back of the foot. Anaerobic bacteria got into the compromised area which is why it is resected. Treated with a heart bar and impression material to not create a pressure point on the frog.

Spring has sprung!

And, unfortunately, our equine companions are at greater risk for laminitis. As much as we all love watching our horses enjoy their beautiful, lush, green pastures, founder is a serious risk in our community. This is a reminder to muzzle, limit access to pastures and even move at risk horses to dry lots. If you have a horse at risk, especially if you have lush pastures, be sure to monitor your horse's weight, fat deposits, crest of their neck and soundness daily. It is also important to keep an eye out for a "founder" stance, lameness and increases pulses in their lower limbs and feet.
We know it can be difficult to move your equine friend off their favorite field, but laminitis is a painful, life-threatening condition and it's important that we do everything we can to prevent it and keep our horses happy and healthy.

Made big progress on this horse from where I started. He Has Navicular Syndrome and laminitis. When I first came out the horse could barely walk and today the owner informed me that the horse was running around in it’s paddock! Great to be able to help our equine friends!
