We’ve been working on desensitizing this big lab pup to a Gentle Leader for more than a week. Having this on while he plays tug or chews on a bone helps! His walking on leash is steadily improving, as seen here!

Buddy is learning to be calm and stay on a boundary until released in Puppy Kindergarten. Since he struggles to be calm around other dogs, this is great progress for him. Look at that focus on his owner!

JOYFUL JOURNEYS CLASS!
In this and an earlier exercise, Luna is learning that tension on the leash is a cue to come closer to her owner to slacken that tension. When she does this, she gets rewarded by getting to eat the treat she was pulling toward. Moving around the owners body ensures she could move Luna away if the distraction the treat represents is not appropriate for her, like a person or another dog.

Rocco’s owner lives out-of-state and was coming to Speedway for the day, to attend a meeting at Allisons Transmission. He reached out to us, hoping to find a place for his pup to safely stay, while he was visiting. Being unsure of Rocco’s personality and him really not being fond of other dogs, we came to the solution of housing him at our training center! Rocco received one-on-one attention by Robbie Barnes, and also received a full body massage, while he was there! We were so glad we could help Rocco and his owner!

Pups in Progress training class is for pups ages 6-12 months. If you would like to join our next session, it begins Thursday, October 26th from 6-7pm. Pups in Progress is a 4-week class, meeting once a week. The cost is $150. All classes are small in size (3-5 dogs) and use only positive reinforcement methods!
