Does your pet need vaccines?

We had so much fun with our first parking lot vaccine clinic we're doing it again. 🎪🐕‍🦺🐈💉

Wednesday July 31st from Noon to 4 pm

*** BY APPOINTMENT ONLY ***

Please call the office at 712-262-7900 to schedule your pet for a vaccine update!

This is a great way to get your pet in for vaccines as our appointment capacity is still lower than what it typically is working out of the trailers.

Appointments will be for vaccines only - we will not be able to check ears, lumps or address other concerns at the vaccine clinic - they will have to be scheduled as a separate appointment.

All dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be in carriers!

Clinic update:

1. Our first week of appointments post flood is going well and we're getting the flow of the trailers figured out.

2. We will be opening up the schedule next week for all types of appointments - if you would like to schedule something please call our office during regular hours.

3. We will also have a surgery room next week - our staff is working on calling all of our missed surgeries to reschedule - feel free to reach out if you'd like to get on our schedule.

4. We had a large shipment of dog and cat food that arrived today - if you're getting low give our office a call.

5. We are still working on getting full functionality of internet, phones, credit card processing, etc back at the clinic

For now the best way to get medication and product refills is to call ahead (please give 24-48 hours notice) and pay over the phone. Then we will have your refills available for pick up - please visit us on the west side of the building - look for the overhead garage door.

If you've driven by the south side of Spencer you've probably seen what we are working on.

Starting Monday our mobile veterinary clinics will be open for appointments!

Whoo hoo 🥳🎉

Please keep reading for more details......

We are starting with urgent/sick care and limited vaccines our first week in action.

What to expect:

1.Our phones, internet and computers are at an off site command center (our mechanical room had some significant water damage; we are still waiting for some of those functions to be restored at the clinic). Because of this we will be asking you to call in and pay by card over the phone after your appointment.

2.Please keep your pets in your vehicle until it's your turn for an appointment - we won't have a waiting room.

3. It is VERY important to make sure all pets arrive on leashes or in carriers!

4. Please check in on the west side of the building - overhead garage door when you arrive then we will get you out of your vehicle when it's your turn for an appointment.

5. Our number ofexam rooms and efficiency will be decreased with our new system. We also have a limited number of kennels and cages that survived the flooding so we won't be able to see any drop offs at this time. We will do our best to get everyone scheduled but please be aware that our ability for same day appointments and drop offs will be different for awhile.

We still have a few wrinkles to work out - so please be PATIENT with us as we sort through our new system.

In the next week watch for information on a vaccine clinic that we are planning on holding in our parking lot.

We will also have a surgery suite back up and operational in the next couple of weeks and will be reaching out to reschedule any surgeries there we had to postpone.

We have phones and internet again!

We have a command center set up in a temporary office space - you can reach us at 712-262-7900 just like always.

We have two RV/mobile veterinary clinics lined up and are hoping to have them up and running soon - we are still finishing up the logistics to get them up and running.

We are working on contacting everyone who missed appointments over the last 2 weeks to let them know what plans are to get them rescheduled.

We have a limited inventory of medications available - if you need a refill please call us. We can take payments over the phone and then will need 24 hours to pack the order and have it waiting for you at the clinic to pick up.

We are slowly restocking food, vaccines, medications and supplies as we are able.

Thanks for hanging in there with us - we've done a lot of thinking on our feet and dirty demo/ clean up over the last 10 days. We appreciate your support and look forward to continuing to care for your pets and livestock!

HSNWIA has teamed up with the amazing crews at Emmet County Animal Shelter and People For Pets along with a lot of fantastic volunteers from other animal care facilities to help support our community!

We will be offering vaccinations and microchips for those who have been displaced or are in need to ensure the safety of their animals, especially ahead of the holiday fast approaching!

We are also offering rides to the clinic for those who cannot make it there, just text Hailey (number on flyer) to get a pickup scheduled! We will also contact you prior to leaving site to ensure you are ready!

We would also like to send a huge thank you to the American Legion Post 1 Spencer, Iowa for letting us use their facility!

We will see you all tomorrow!

Monday morning update:

We are working hard on:
1. Getting a temporary office space up and running with phones and internet so we are able to answer our own phones and email again.
2. Getting 2 Mobile RV style veterinary clinics operational in Spencer - we are working hard to be able to see appointments in Spencer again!
3. The cleaning and organizing and sorting continues - it's never ending!

Until our check list is completed please continue to contact our Hartley office:

Friday Morning Update:

We have everything we need for food and drink at the clinic today!

We are working on getting phones and internet back to the building and are hopeful that should be ready soon.

We are currently working on getting the supplies and inventory not damaged by the flood organized.

Our plan is to have things organized and restocked by early next week so we are able to start seeing some appointments in Spencer!

More on that to come!

We are able to fill medication and food requests out of our Hartley location - please call and give them 24-48 hours notice and they will get it ready for you.

If you had already scheduled an appointment with us on Saturday someone from our Hartley office will be reaching out to confirm your appointment - our Spencer crew will be heading to Hartley on Saturday to see a small amount of appointments there along with the Hartley crew.

This morning we want to take a minute to say THANK YOU!!!!

1. Our amazing staff has been showing up and working incredibly hard at the clinic - this is so far outside of any of their job descriptions but they are wonderful and tireless in their efforts to get the clinic back up and running! Dr. Mark and Dr. Wendy allowed the clinic to invade their house in efforts to get important items dried out. The list goes on!

2. Our community - the out pouring of volunteers and support we've seen in the last several days has been amazing - so many have shown up to lend a hand, let us use needed equipment and brought food and drinks for the team working - Thank you!

3. Local businesses - we've seen incredible service and expertise from many local businesses. We have our practice software back up and running thanks to Phil at GCS Technology. We have safe safe power back to the business thanks to Tyler Johnson and his crew. SMU fixed the transformer and made sure we have electricity. We've had contractors walk through the clinic already and so many more lined up to help us complete the next steps. Spencer is fortunate to have so many businesses that support each other!

Until we are able to see patients out of Spencer we are handling all care out of our Hartley location

1. Dog and Cat Food needs - they are fully stocked and ready to help you with a large shipment coming on Thursday as well!

2. Medication Refills - please call ahead and give 24-48 hours notice so they are able to get you a full med refill

3. Sick/urgent care appointments -ear infections, vomiting, diarrhea, lameness, urinary symptoms, etc

4. Urgent wellness - Rabies vaccines that are expired/near expiration, if you need vaccine updates so your pet is able to board while you rehab your homes or businesses, Cytopoint injections for allergy management/severe allergy symptom flare-ups

Until further notice we have suspended boarding at both our Hartley and Spencer locations

Demo and Clean up continued - thanks to our many volunteers and wonderful staff for their hard work - too many to tag but VERY appreciated!

Wednesday needs - remaining work is primarily demo - we could use help with dry wall and cabinet removal - especially 1 or 2 people with a generator and power tools to facilitate the above demo.

If you are available for this type of work please reach out.

It would be great if someone could drop off fresh ice first thing in the morning and again in the afternoon.

We cannot say thank you enough to everyone who has volunteered, offered encouragement, dropped off snacks/drinks and lunch! We are blessed to be part of a great community and we have the best clients!

We have been able to get back into the clinic - unfortunately the damage is extensive. We will not be operational at our Spencer location for the foreseeable future.

We are working on finding and figuring out how we can set up a temporary structure that will allow us to be up and seeing patients again as soon as possible.

Our Hartley location will be open on Monday and we will be handling emergency and urgent care for our entire practice area out of Hartley for the present time.

The phone number for our Hartley office is 712-928-2151 and they will be open from 7:30-5:00 on Monday.

For now we ask that you call only with urgent/emergent care needs.

We will not be able to address routine and vaccine care at the present time. We will let you know when we are able to restart your pet's preventative care schedule.

Our amazing staff in Hartley will do everything they can to help your pet get the care that they need. Please be mindful that our Hartley office will likely be very busy and will be working without the benefit of our practice software - see below. We ask that you extend them kindness and patience as they work to help fulfill your pet's needs and get them the care that the require.

At the present time we do not have any access to our practice management software and client/patient information and records. We are working with IT to help restore our data but we are not the only business in Spencer who will need help with that and we are not sure when we will be up and running again.

We will work on increasing supplies in our Hartley office to cover the medical needs of patients from both clinics but it will take some time for us to get a shipment in. In the short term if you are in need of medication refills we will only be filling a 1 week supply to allow us to help as many patients as possible.

Attention clients who had pets boarding or in hospital at AMC.

All pets were safely transported to Missy's Groom & Board and are under her excellent care.

We lost all of our paperwork with phone numbers and won't be able to get electronic data recovery done for a while.

If your pet was with us please contact Missy at 712-261-3479. You will need to leave a message with your name and phone number, your pet's name and a description of your pet.

Missy and her crew will work to contact you and arrange a way for you to be reunited with your pet.

Please be patient with her as she is only 1 person. She is working so hard to keep your pets safe and wants to see you reunited as soon as possible.

Clinic is currently under water.

Thanks to a great rescue crew all pets at the clinic are out and at a safe location!

None of our doctors or staff are able to travel to the clinic safely at this time so we have limited information about what it looks like.

We will update clients as we know more but we won't be open for business in the short term.

Successful candidate will have completed a 2 year veterinary technician program and have experience in the following - venipuncture, IV catheter placement, surgery prep and assistance, dental cleaning and polishing, monitoring anesthesia, laboratory procedures (running in house blood machines, performing urinalysis, f***l examinations, etc) and general patient care for hospitalized /sick patients and well patient visits. Successful applicants must be able to work in a collaborative team environment with multiple different doctors and team members. 4 full days a week (7:30-5), 1 day off per week-day off rotates, approximately 1 Saturday (half day7:30-noon) every 3rd weekend and 1 late evening (Wed. until 7pm) each month.
