Happy 1st Birthday to the "U" litter! What a nice litter this has turned out to be! (Thiago x Wasa) This litter has produced companions, bomb dogs, cadaver dogs, and protection dogs. At least one is in the process of becoming a Sheriff K9.

This tongue-in-cheek saying has a large element of truth in it. The German Shepherd is known for its loyalty, trustworthiness, companionship, and protection. They don't tell gossip, spread rumors, or betray their human. They may sneak a snack of the countertop but that's tolerable considering all that they contribute to our lives ;)

Team Member Spotlight: Melody Hobelman

Melody Hobelman is our Training Director here at Conifer Canine and a cornerstone of our team! A certified master dog trainer, Melody has been immersed in the world of dog training since childhood, following in the footsteps of her father (Tim). Her passion for dogs and natural talent for training have shaped her into an excellent leader at Conifer Canine.

In addition to training our client dogs, Melody oversees daily training sessions for our student trainers, communicates with dog owners, handles scheduling, manages the client kennels, and is an instructor at our Dog Trainer College.

Her expertise extends to many different types of training, but she's especially passionate about service dog training and police K9 training.

Melody also plays a vital role in our Belgian Malinois breeding program, Grit & Grace Malinois.

Melody's hard work, dedication, and passion for Conifer Canine make her an invaluable asset to our team!

Taught by our owner and Operations Manager, Tim Miller, this seminar will discuss how the dog thinks, what the dog's psychological needs are, and how to communicate with the dog in a way that he understands. It will include tips to help with not reinforcing poor behavior, anthropomorphism, and clear human leadership. If you’re struggling with your dog, this just may be the impetus for the your turnaround! The principles taught can be applied to obedience issues, behavioral problems, and even some timidity issues. During the last 50 years, the German Shepherd breed has been attacked by self-serving, money-loving idiots. These have perverted the dog's temperament, weakening his body, destroyed genetic health until the breed is not the world's leader any more. It is to the point where many think that a GSD is a timid, vicious animal that cannot be trusted; an exact antithesis of the breed's creation.
Fortunately, there is a growing number of breed enthusiasts who have the selfless purpose of recreating Max v Stephanitz' vision of the "perfect" working dog; a dog that can be trusted to protect yet have the balance to be a true family dog. Through genetic health, correct working dog structure, and producing a solid temperament, many enthusiasts and breeders are revitalizing the breed to a status worthy of the title German Shepherd. Indeed, the future is bright for the breed!

Team Member Spotlight: Mila Marie

Meet Mila, a certified master dog trainer and one of our Dog Trainer College instructors!

Mila's passion for dog training sparked in her
local 4-H club where she started in third
grade in group training classes. This fueled
her enthusiasm for learning about the world
of dogs. Throughout those years, Mila
competed and placed in a range of events,
including Obedience, Rally, Agility,
Conformation, and more. With the support of
family, friends, and mentors, Mila knew by
age 13 that she wanted a purpose-driven
career and life centered around working with
dogs. At 16, Mila started her first dog
training job where she flourished, cementing
her path to becoming a certified master
trainer. Mila later attended our Dog Trainer
College for her master dog trainer
certification. Mila now works for us as an
instructor and trainer.

Mila says:
"What I appreciate most about Conifer Canine is the environment. The people at Conifer are professional, knowledgeable, and kind individuals who support one another. The dogs are amazing and the property is wonderful. It's so rewarding getting to work with the people and dogs every day"

Team Member Spotlight: Georgia Smith Christopher

Meet Georgia, a certified behavior and obedience dog trainer!

Georgia grew up in a family that always had dogs but at the age of 17, she rescued her first personal dog, Niko. Over the years, she grew more passionate about animals and rescued her 2nd dog, Camilla. Camilla, having aggression issues, influenced Georgia to want to help other dogs with behavioral issues. She decided to pursue becoming a professional dog trainer and attended Conifer Canine's Dog Trainer College. She has completed her dog obedience and behavior certification and is near completion of the K9 instructor course. She now works for us as a obedience/behavior trainer and is a part of our kennel staff.

Georgia says:
"Working at Conifer Canine has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. My bosses foster a positive culture, always encouraging growth and open communication, which elevates my passion for training. I truly appreciate the variety of tasks I undertake—one day I’m teaching basic commands, and the next I’m helping with more specialized training, keeping my work dynamic and engaging. Seeing the transformation of dogs—from anxious, untrained dogs to confident and obedient companions—is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my role. Team Member Spotlight: Moriah Hatfield

Meet Moriah Hatfield, a certified master dog trainer and an essential member of the Conifer Canine team!

Growing up in a dog trainer's home, Moriah quickly developed the ability to connect with dogs effectively at a very young age.

As an instructor at our Dog Trainer College and an online course teacher, Moriah shares her expertise, always striving to enhance the training experience for both students and dogs. Alongside her sister Melody, she co-manages Grit & Grace Malinois, where they raise and train exceptional Belgian Malinois. When Moriah isn't handling working dogs or teaching dog trainer students, you'll often find her behind the camera getting photo and video footage for us.

Moriah is passionate about scent work, including detection and trailing, as well as apprehension work with reliable obedience. Her commitment to these specialized training areas reflects her deep love for working with dogs.

A great dog trainer and dedicated professional, Moriah is a driving force at Conifer Canine!
