TUESDAY UPDATE :

All of the animals that were in my care from the clinics have been reunited with their parents or at least friends which is HUGE. They underwent a lot of stress as I’m sure you can imagine so it’s heartwarming knowing they are with people they know. ❤️

I still can take a couple dogs in need ‼️
(I am unfortunately not a shelter & you cannot surrender dogs to me. There’s steps that have to be taken before the dog comes to me for that)

If your dog needs medication or has an emergency please call the HARTLEY animal medical center if you vet with AMC. If you vet with Homestead their emergency number is through Dickinson County Vet Clinic! 📞

We do not know what our new normal is, but we do not feel comfortable GROOMING dogs when people don’t have beds to sleep in, clean water to shower with, or without our vet clinics right down the road functioning.

We will be in contact with all of our grooming clients eventually to find a new date, I promise. There’s just… a lot of you 🤣❤️❤️ we were in the trenches of busy season so 25+ people per day have to be contacted to reschedule.

Please be aware our system AUTOMATICALLY sends you reminders. We have not had time to be able to go through & cancel via online.

The words I have for the last 2 days & for the days to come are hard to put together..

But overall I am {grateful}

grateful for all the help, the support, the kind words, grateful to have such a passion that doesn’t allow me to give up or move on.

seeing a clinic with dogs inside going underwater & having to watch it from the sidelines for hours. watching water continue to rise as I had to wait for a boat willing to go towards the animals was hard. the tears of joys that came out when I saw them coming out that door alive is something I will never forget.

I am grateful for the extra set of hands from 2 veterinarians from the clinic the last couple days helping care for these dogs.

I am grateful for the people who have checked in multiple times & whom have brought the dogs & cats food, litter, etc.

I am grateful I have a home & my family is all safe.

I am grateful I was capable of helping when & where I could.

But with being grateful for all the things, I feel [guilty]

I cannot shake the feeling of guilt.

We feel guilty when we are done helping because maybe we could have done more, kept going, etc. I feel guilty because I feel like I’m in the wrong town at the wrong time that needs the help. my town is flooding & I have to watch from sidelines as there’s no way into that town.

I am grateful I had a roof over my head lastnight as I stayed at the shop, but I feel guilty because my business is still running & many many are not.

My heart hurts so so much, but I am grateful.

We will get through this!

Thank you to everyone & for all the rescuers of people & their pets. Prayers will continue to come from the south side of Spencer to all those affected.

We are taking things day by day, and doing what we can. Please continue to be patient. We have an amazing support team & great help caring for these dogs.

Today was not how I expected it to go ..

Letting out dogs this morning turned into rescuing animals out of the vet clinics, and helping people and their pets to safe dry places for 8 hours.

I’m not looking for a round of applause, I’m looking for some GRACE during this time as we navigate getting the dogs to the right owners and working with the vet clinics.

All dogs from Animal Medical Centers in Spencer are currently in my care. Please be PATIENT with us as a lot of my time will be taken up by simply caring for the animals.

Today there were a lot of tears shed, both good & bad, but I am grateful to have gotten the opportunity to help out the Spencer community & will continue to do so the best I can with anything.

Please say a prayer for the Spencer Community & all of the people whom lost their homes, pets, or family members.

PSA! The people that are selling Aussie puppies in the parking lot at the Spencer Bomgaars are currently under investigation by the USDA. They are an unlicensed backyard breeder with several complaints.

We would never encourage buying a puppy from a parking lot and always check someone’s credentials/license, ask to meet parents, ask for vet records and make sure there is a return policy if something doesn’t work out.

Buying puppies or kitties from a parking lot (or livestock sale, flea market or pet store) might seem like you are helping or saving that baby but in reality it only reinforces the humans to continue their breeding and selling. The only way to stop the cycle is to not participate. The supply and demand circle has to stop in order for the issue to get better.

Meet Bowman! We were able to hangout with this {BIG} boy for a couple of days & he sure is great!!

MEET BOWMAN!!!

Bowman came into our shelter last week as an owner surrender. The owner was originally going to put Bo down due to a few allegations that this dog was vicious and aggressive. Upon meeting him, Bowman was jumping on us, but absolutely no signs of aggression. At the shelter, he still has not shown he is an “aggressive” or “vicious” dog. Does he need some training? Absolutely. But he is a big marshmallow full of LOVE!!!

Bowie just adores his people, men and women. He sits and shakes…only for treats! Bowman likes to run around our back area, and constantly is getting the “zoomies”! He’s such a good boy, but needs to go to a home with no dogs or cats.

Here’s your friendly reminder that if you do not feel comfortable coming to your appointment in dangerous weather conditions, we promise that it’s okay. There will be another day. Sometimes we may even ask you to reschedule so we can get as many dogs as possible sent home before a storm hits. 🐾

When your dog is boarded @ the same place frequently I truly believe it is best for them.🫶🏻

Dogs learn routines, learn people, and can trust where they are going ONLY if they are used to it.

No different than grooming. If your dog hasn’t been groomed in a year, chances are they forget how to behave, who we are & our routines.

It is your responsibility to keep your dog(s) familiar with places. 😍

The dogs that come more often than others, do tremendously better both grooming & boarding.✨

watching the sunrise with the pups is something I don’t mind doing ☀️

would I like to sleep in? Absolutely.
would I like to sip my coffee @ home instead of my car? Most definitely.
would I like a slow morning where I don’t take more than 10 steps to my couch? Sure.

But this is something that I chose to do, built from the ground up & am dedicated to continue doing for now. 💓

Happy Thursday!!

This little guy came in for boarding with anxiety meds because he was VERY nervous at the vet they were concerned he wouldn’t do well boarding…

He ended up doing FANTASTIC! 🌟
{no anxiety meds were given during boarding!}

Are all situations like this? Absolutely not. Some dogs do not come around enough for kiss sessions, but we sure do try!

We just ask that you don’t turn down boarding your dog just because they are nervous to go to the vet. Give it a try first! 😊

I really do love your dogs…

I know that may sound weird, but they all have a piece of my heart. 🤍

They all have so many different personalities & I enjoy nothing more than letting them embrace their goofy selves! {even if that means getting drenched in slobber just from this big boy sniffing me}

When a client passes away or no longer uses our facility; it takes a piece of my heart away.

I was huggin’ all of my Easter buddies a little closer after hearing of an amazing dog who has passed this last week & really never knowing the last time I’ll get to love on them. 😢

I promise the needy golden in the back got some love as well, even if he says it wasn’t enough. It’s never enough 💔
