This spirited boy arrived at the shelter heartworm positive, but keeping him on cage rest during treatment was no small feat. 🐶💪 As a husky, Hurricane's daily agenda must include plenty of physical stimulation to keep him happy and mentally engaged, or boredom might set in. He has a penchant for pulling while leash walking, but with a bit of training and consistent exercise, that can be easily corrected. Get ready to hear his signature husky woo-woo howl - this boy isn't shy about voicing his opinions! 🐕🗣️ Hurricane is looking for a dedicated companion who can provide him with the daily outlet he needs for his energy, ensuring he stays both mentally and physically fit. A fenced yard would be ideal for his adventures. If you have other furry family members, a meet and greet will be required to make sure everyone gets along. This incredible pup is not just spirited; he's also highly intelligent and motivated by treats. He already knows how to sit for treats and is diligently working on "down." At Owen County Humane Society, we believe that every dog and cat deserves a chance at a happy and loving forever home. But with limited space for 45 cats and 45 dogs, we are finding more and more difficult to take animals needing to be rehomed. We must dedicate the time, money and manpower we have to the animals we are currently caring for. It breaks our hearts to turn away any animal in need, but the reality is, we cannot take in every dog and cat that comes our way. 1. Online Rehoming Platforms: Utilize online platforms specifically designed to connect pet owners with potential adopters. Websites like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, Rescueme.org and Rehome by Adopt-a-Pet allow individuals to list pets in need of new homes and connect with interested adopters. 2. Local Rescue Groups: Research and reach out to local animal rescue organizations. These groups often focus on specific breeds, species, or special needs animals. They may have more resources and flexibility to take in pets when shelters are full. He had a blast meeting dogs and even hung out with a child at the shop today. 🐕👶 🐾 Polite playdates are his specialty – he started playtime with gentle manners, even with one of our blind dogs. He soaked up all the love and pets he could get during his visit. 🚗 Romeo's story began with a tough twist: he and Juliet were left in our shelter parking lot, watching the car drive away. 😢 They've been through a lot, but they're settling in nicely. Romeo's around 1.5 years old and has quite the zest for life. Belle is our guardian dog, lol, no she’s not, she just lifted her head to see if I had a treat. I didn’t, so she resumed her watch 🙄 Belle is 7 years old and was spayed on Monday. She was suurrendered as a stray earlier this year but we suspect she was actually an owner surrender. She is ready for her forever home. She’s potty trained, keeps a neat bed, and loves treats. Too much though on the treats, she’s now on a diet. 😞 She has typical mastiff behavior. She likes to growl at new people because she can. But she’s very sweet once she warms up. She loves loves loves belly rubs ❤️ She is heartworm negative, has had her rabies, vaccines and preventatives and she is a love bug 🐞❤️

Introducing Travis, a lovable three-year-old large-sized dog who might be a shepherd mastiff mix. Travis is a true sweetheart who enjoys sharing kisses with everyone he meets. He displays a friendly and non-reactive demeanor towards other dogs, showcasing his sociability. While he may benefit from some leash training, Travis has a laid-back personality and loves to engage in playtime. His adaptable nature and attentive listening skills make him a joy to be around.
