We are scratching our heads trying to figure out why these two sweethearts haven’t found a home yet?
Twice as much Love. Twice as many cuddles! All the feels times two!!🩷🐾🐶
Miley and Copper are soooo ready to leave shelter life behind. Who is going to make that happen? 🤞
Two separate personalities but Copper and Miley thrive by being together. Copper can be a bit shy when meeting you for the first time while Miley is affectionate and cuddly right out of the gate. At three years old they are curious and let their noses lead the way when out and about. Miley is a bit of a foodie so separate feeding is what works for them. With lots of love to give they are sure to steal your heart.
Please start the application process by filling out an application at ochumane.org. One of our volunteers will call you to answer questions and set up a meet and greet. Call back times are Wed-Sat 12-5.
Miley and Copper hope to see you soon.
Thank you to the Owen County 4-H Fishing Team for your recent donation. These kids are awesome!
It’s National Dog Day! Show us a picture of your dog! Don’t have a dog? Looking to add another dog? Check out ochumane.org or Petfinder.🐾🐶❤️
The truth about declawing 💔

Thank you Charity for your Girl Scout project collecting donations for the Humane Society ❤️ the $281 will help pay Vet bills and your supplies will help keep them fed 🎉🎁
G’day Mates, my name is Romeo. They say I’m a 2.5 year-old Australian Cattle dog aka Blue Heeler. Crickey! I didn’t know I was from Australia, I thought I was a Hoosier.
I’m a real go-getter. Having a job or something to do is a MUST for me. Perhaps you could teach me to catch a frisbee. I’m very athletic and agile, my legs are spring loaded like a kangaroo, must be the Australian in me. I could use a little brushing up on my leash skills, I can get a little excited at first. I’ve also done ok with some of the other dogs I’ve met.
I’ve friendly, playful, and loyal. To me that adds up to please take me home.🤞🐶🐾
Help me find my forever home who understands my breed characteristics and herding tendencies. A home where I can be right by side and we throw another shrimp on the barbie. I’m happiest when I’m interacting with humans.
If you’re considering welcoming Romeo into your home, start the adoption process by filling out an application online at ochumane.org. One of our volunteers will call you to answer questions and set up a meet and greet. Our normal call back times are Wed-Sat 12-5pm.
Dog missing from Rattlesnake Road since last Thursday. Has been seen at Pine Lake Drive, Fishcreek, Horseman’s Campground. Family really missing their dog. Please keep an eye out and share. 💔
We are trying to get 30 cats spayed 🐈❤️ any help would be appreciated 🥰
Our Darling Dolly!🩷🐾
Meet Dolly! She's a beautiful, sweet and spunky puppy who is the total package. She loves long sniffs around the yard, playing fetch/keep away with her toys and is very easy going. She has the softest squishy face and loves to lean in for all the cuddles.
Dolly is 6 months old and is an Anatolian/Shepherd mix. She is just the cutest girl.
If you’re ready to welcome this sweet girl into your home, start the adoption process by filling out an application online at ochumane.org. One of our volunteers will call you to answer questions and set up a meet and greet. Our normal call back times are Wed-Sat, 12-5pm.
To check the status of an application after 48 hours please email at [email protected] or call 812-829-6247.

🐾 Meet Hurricane: Energetic Husky Ready for Adventure! 🌪️ Hurricane is not your average 2-year-old, 70-pound husky; he's a bundle of enthusiasm, sociability, and boundless energy! This spirited boy arrived at the shelter heartworm positive, but keeping him on cage rest during treatment was no small feat. 🐶💪 As a husky, Hurricane's daily agenda must include plenty of physical stimulation to keep him happy and mentally engaged, or boredom might set in. He has a penchant for pulling while leash walking, but with a bit of training and consistent exercise, that can be easily corrected. Get ready to hear his signature husky woo-woo howl - this boy isn't shy about voicing his opinions! 🐕🗣️ Hurricane is looking for a dedicated companion who can provide him with the daily outlet he needs for his energy, ensuring he stays both mentally and physically fit. A fenced yard would be ideal for his adventures. If you have other furry family members, a meet and greet will be required to make sure everyone gets along. This incredible pup is not just spirited; he's also highly intelligent and motivated by treats. He already knows how to sit for treats and is diligently working on "down." While he might have that typical husky undercoat, don't worry - he adores being groomed, turning it into a delightful bonding experience. 🐾🛁 Hurricane's potential to coexist with cats will need to be tested, but when it comes to other dogs, he's one of the most laid-back guys you'll ever meet. With a leash in hand, he's ready for some walkabouts to perfect his leash manners. If you're up for the challenge of embracing Hurricane's zest for life and providing him with the active lifestyle he craves, then this husky dynamo could be your ideal companion. Get ready for endless adventures and heartfelt moments with Hurricane by your side! 🌪️🏞️ #AdoptHurricane #HuskyAdventure #UnleashTheFun Please make sure to schedule an appointment to meet Hurricane by… Calli
At Owen County Humane Society, we believe that every dog and cat deserves a chance at a happy and loving forever home. But with limited space for 45 cats and 45 dogs, we are finding more and more difficult to take animals needing to be rehomed. We must dedicate the time, money and manpower we have to the animals we are currently caring for. It breaks our hearts to turn away any animal in need, but the reality is, we cannot take in every dog and cat that comes our way. 1. Online Rehoming Platforms: Utilize online platforms specifically designed to connect pet owners with potential adopters. Websites like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, Rescueme.org and Rehome by Adopt-a-Pet allow individuals to list pets in need of new homes and connect with interested adopters. 2. Local Rescue Groups: Research and reach out to local animal rescue organizations. These groups often focus on specific breeds, species, or special needs animals. They may have more resources and flexibility to take in pets when shelters are full. 🐾 Meet Romeo: Playful Blue Heeler Seeking His Forever Home! 🐾 Looking for a fur-ever friend who's got energy, charm, and a heart of gold? Say hello to Romeo, an adorable Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) with a world of love to give! 💙 And guess what? He's got a sister, Juliet, who he'd love to be adopted with, though it's totally optional. 🐶 🌟 Romeo's the confident one in the dynamic duo. He's all about making friends, both furry and tiny humans! He had a blast meeting dogs and even hung out with a child at the shop today. 🐕👶 🐾 Polite playdates are his specialty – he started playtime with gentle manners, even with one of our blind dogs. He soaked up all the love and pets he could get during his visit. 🚗 Romeo's story began with a tough twist: he and Juliet were left in our shelter parking lot, watching the car drive away. 😢 They've been through a lot, but they're settling in nicely. Romeo's around 1.5 years old and has quite the zest for life. He's not too thrilled about his kennel and would much prefer a job to keep him active and engaged. 💪 He's your go-to activity buddy, but that's not all – he's a family pet in the making! 🏡 With his friendly demeanor and watchful eyes, he's ready to be your loyal companion. 🧠 As a smart and loyal Blue Heeler, Romeo will need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. These dogs are wonderful, but they thrive on activity and interaction. Remember, they might have a tendency to herd and nip, so a meet and greet with any potential fur siblings is a must. 📋 Interested in adopting Romeo? Start the process by filling out an application at ochumane.org. This step kicks off the journey – no commitment yet, and you can explore multiple names in the name field. We're here to help! 🐶 All our animals are spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations before they find their forever homes. For more details about Romeo, check out his profile here: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/rome
🐾 Meet Juliet: Love-Filled Red Heeler Ready for a Forever Home! 🐾 Looking for a furry friend to share your journey? Say hello to Juliet, a charming Red Heeler with a heart full of love! ❤️ But that's not all – she comes with a bonus option: her brother Romeo, a playful Blue Heeler. 🐾 🌟 While they'd make an adorable pair, adopting both isn't a requirement. Juliet is a sweetheart on her own, eager to bring joy to your life. She might be a tad more shy than her brother, but treats and pets are her language – and she's fluent! 🍖🐶 🐾 Juliet's been quite the social butterfly. She had a paw-sitive meet and greet with a variety of dogs and even a child at the shop. Curiosity and courtesy are her middle names! 🐕👦 😊 She's generally great with fellow canine pals, but big dogs might make her feel a bit uneasy. Just a little quirk that adds to her uniqueness! 📖 Want to know more about Juliet? Check out her profile here: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/juliet-64483478/in/spencer/owen-county-humane-society-in301/. To arrange a meet-and-greet, call the Owen County Humane Society at (812) 829-6247 or shoot them an email at [email protected]. 🐶 Oh, and here's the best part: All animals are spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations before they head to their forever homes. Juliet's waiting to add a dash of love and laughter to your life – are you ready? 🐾🏠 #MeetJuliet #AdoptLove #FurryFriendsForever
🐾 Adopt Stallone and Eastwood - A Tale of Resilience and Love 🐾 🌟 These youngsters have endured a rough start to their short lives, but their spirits remain unbroken! 🌟 Stallone and Eastwood were abandoned with their Mom and Dad, left to fend for themselves without food, water, or proper shelter. 🌳 Surviving in a field for nearly three weeks, their unwavering bond kept them strong. Dad stayed to protect the pups while Mom bravely searched for food. 🐾 🏠 Thankfully, Stallone and Eastwood found their way to the Owen County Humane Society, where they've been nurtured and loved. Now, they're eager to find their forever home! 🏠 🌿 Eastwood, the sweet and gentle one, is learning to trust people and would flourish in a home with a confident canine companion – perhaps his brother, Stallone. 🐶💕 🐾 Stallone, on the other hand, is a bundle of love and puppy energy! He adores playing with his toys and will gladly sit at your feet, showering you with affection. 🐾🎾 Together, they've come a long way from that desolate field. 🌈 Their undeniable bond is what keeps them going, and we hope to find them a forever home where they can stay together forever. 💞 🐶🐶 We know adopting bully breeds and bonded pairs can be challenging, but we firmly believe that love knows no bounds. 🐾 Let's give Stallone and Eastwood the loving home they truly deserve! 🏡 💌 If you're unable to adopt them, please share their heartwarming story with your friends, family, and social networks. You never know who might be the perfect match for these extraordinary souls. 💌 💖 Ready to add a double dose of love and joy to your life? 💖 📝 Start the adoption process now by visiting ochumane.org and filling out an application. Stallone and Eastwood are both up-to-date on their vaccines and microchipped, ready to embark on their new chapter with their forever family. 🏅 🙏 Thank you for being a part of Stallone and Eastwood's journey. Belle is our guardian dog, lol, no she’s not, she just lifted her head to see if I had a treat. I didn’t, so she resumed her watch 🙄 Belle is 7 years old and was spayed on Monday. She was suurrendered as a stray earlier this year but we suspect she was actually an owner surrender. She is ready for her forever home. She’s potty trained, keeps a neat bed, and loves treats. Too much though on the treats, she’s now on a diet. 😞 She has typical mastiff behavior. She likes to growl at new people because she can. But she’s very sweet once she warms up. She loves loves loves belly rubs ❤️ She is heartworm negative, has had her rabies, vaccines and preventatives and she is a love bug 🐞❤️
Introducing Travis, a lovable three-year-old large-sized dog who might be a shepherd mastiff mix. Travis is a true sweetheart who enjoys sharing kisses with everyone he meets. He displays a friendly and non-reactive demeanor towards other dogs, showcasing his sociability. While he may benefit from some leash training, Travis has a laid-back personality and loves to engage in playtime. His adaptable nature and attentive listening skills make him a joy to be around. Even during his kennel stay, Travis remained calm and relaxed, patiently waiting for his grooming. If you're looking for an affectionate and adaptable companion who will bring smiles and love to your home, consider opening your heart to Travis. Please start our adoption process by filling out an application online at ochumane.org ❤️ if your next looking for a hunk right now please share!
