Ragged Mountain Dogs (RMD) works with rural Virginia animal shelters in an effort to give animals that would otherwise be killed, a second chance at life. RMD takes these "death row" dogs and rehabilitates them physically and emotionally before we offer them for adoption. Some of our animals have issues that we work with for months before they are suited to place in a home, and occasionally the ho

Lisa Reid is picking these four homeless babies up tomorrow and will be bringing them to RMD to live until adopted. They will be available via SPCA NoVa. Maggie is a 4yr old beagle mix, and the puppies are little hounds - 2boys and 1 girl. Excited to meet these lucky pups! Will get more pics and info about their personalities later. ❤️

So just got three dogs in from down south, they are Northern Virginia SPCA dogs... damn it.. it was probably going to be true.. but we were so hoping it wouldn't be. But it is. Waiting on Patty to post some pictures , we really got some good ones today.. The Beagle oh, he's so awesome...Patty and I both agree.here's no more perfect dog out there than him.! We both agree .. if we didn't have ,who we do ....but he needs to move on to the perfect family

He's a little guy that came up from Louisiana after Ida... he was lucky enough to get involved with a group that we bring eastwood.

Like most of the dogs that are coming in from that part of our country.... we were so hoping it wouldn't be TRUE , but today in our care, he tested.... positive for heartworm disease
He's perfect in every way. I'm calling him beanie... You have a family , even have cats.. you have kids? This little guy is one of the most perfect, easy.. dogs I've ever known . I'll tell you how perfect he is. Been doing this a long time, and no dog ever lived up to deserving ..in my mind.... deserved the name of Beanie.. He was with me less than 72 hours when I knew new ..THAT is that his name I would give him.

Now these tests heartworm positive is definitely not the end of the world.. is a northern Virginia SPCA dog. My phone has less than 5%. Pretty sure patio see this post and we'll get y'all some pictures. Animal let you know how no matter whether is heartworm positive or not.. he can still be placed and the N9VA SPCA will absolutely 100% back ... and even pay for his heartworm treatment. heartworm treatment.
