Do you love dogs?? Come join the kennel team at Dickinson County Animal Clinic!! We are currently hiring for a part-time weekend and evening position.

You get to care for, walk and play with a variety of dogs every day. This would be the perfect after school or 2nd job if you're looking for a few extra hours. Worried about your experience?? The only experience we require is that you LOVE DOGS and are not afraid to get a little dirty! We are always willing to train the right person for the job.

With the temps warming up this week here are some good reminders about what heat can do to your furry friends.

Watch paws on hot pavement, test with your hand, if it's too hot for you it's too hot for them!!! Remember our lakes are not safe for dogs swimming right now. Make sure water is available and limit their time outside right now.

We know it's been a challenging week for the residents of Spencer and surrounding areas. As you begin to pick up the pieces and move forward we want to continue to offer our boarding services to you if needed. We are equipped to help take care of any size dogs in our boarding facility while you and your families make arrangements.

If you are in need of dog boarding please call our clinic with any questions or to arrange their stay. If you are in need of help to transport your pet please let us know and we can help to facilitate a way to get them to us as well.

Attention Dickinson County and Clay County family:

Dickinson County Animal Clinic has opened our boarding facility to stranded dogs displaced by the flooding. If you need a temporary place to keep your dog while sorting out your own situation, please contact Jenna at People For Pets, 712-580-2738, leave a message and they will help coordinate. If possible please have proof of vaccination; if no proof provided, Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella will be updated upon check-in.

We unfortunately cannot take cats at the moment.

If you were one of the unfortunate folks who animal(s) may have passed away, we will also be providing our cremation services at cost for those who may need this service.

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this disaster. We are thinking of you, your families and all of the pets out there. ❤️🐾❤️

Come have your dog play and stay with us! We have 24 spacious dog runs and separate kennel staff providing care for your pets . Our dog runs have both indoor and outdoor sections that, pending weather, we can provide a great boarding experience for dogs of all sizes! If you are familiar with our boarding facility we have an update for you.

To help better serve your dogs while they stay in our boarding department, we will be making some requirement changes. We will now be requiring all pets be up to date on core boarding vaccines; Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella, prior to their scheduled stay with us. This means that if your dog is needing vaccines done while boarding, we will no longer be able to do so. We will need you to schedule an appointment with one of our veterinarians for their health check-up. Please call ahead to check if this could be scheduled the same day as your boarding check in date, or prior.

A lot of knowledge and information is gained by having you as owners present for exams: we can answer health questions better, come up with solutions for health problems and recommend proper follow-up care for your dog.

This policy will take effect starting July, 1. If you know your dog will be boarding with us and your dog is not up-to-date on their vaccines, please schedule your appointment before their stay with us. We appreciate your understanding, continued business, and we are excited to see your pets!

Dickinson County Animal Clinic is looking for a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our team. We are open to Veterinary Assistants who have prior experience in the Veterinary field or have graduated from a Veterinary Technology program. We are located in Spirit Lake, Iowa and are a fast paced 2-3 doctor small animal practice. Beyond regular Veterinary Technician duties applicant will also be asked to assist the receptionist staff, general clinic day to day duties, and be part of the on call team for emergencies if available. This is a full-time position requiring rotating Saturday shifts. Attention current and future clients:

To provide the best care for our patients we will now be requiring annual heartworm testing for dogs. We are making this change as we are seeing more dogs on heartworm prevention year round come up positive for heartworm disease. These cases are signs of resistant heartworm disease in our area. We do have an abundance of clients who travel from the southern states where heartworm disease is much more prevalent and can introduce more heartworm positive dogs to our area. If a dose of your dog’s heartworm prevention is missed by even a few days they are at risk of contracting heartworm disease. Our heartworm tests also test for the 3 most common tick borne diseases. With ticks being a major concern in our area we are seeing a lot more cases of exposure to Lyme, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis. If your dog has not had a heartworm test in the past year please call us today to schedule their test.

We are currently hiring for Part-time summer kennel attendants, offering morning, evening and weekend shifts. Attention cat owners! 🐱

As of April 1st, Dickinson County Animal Clinic will no longer be offering CAT boarding. We have outgrown our space in medicine and will be remodeling our clinic to create more exam room space to make our clinic more efficient and reduce our wait times. We appreciate your past cat boarding business and look forward to continuing serving you and your kitties on our medicine side of the business. Come play with dogs!!!!!! We have an immediate opening in our kennel department for a part time kennel attendant.

We are looking for someone available for 2-4 hours (can vary depending on reservation) on Thursday and Friday mornings and some weekends. If you want a job where everyone is excited to see you every time you work this is the place!! You will need to be physically able to walk a variety of different dogs, bend down and carry items for cleaning as well as give baths on occasion. Being comfortable with a variety of breeds, sizes and temperments is a must. 🐾🐾
