That's my very own, Whiskey! Since March of 2019 he's come a long way on his rehabilitation journey!
When I picked Whiskey up in Kaufman, TX August 2017 he was fully shod with clips. I was told he had thin hoof walls, threw shoes, and that he had to be at least half shod.
Whiskey was born in Kentucky, May 2, 2005. He went into training (English) at the age of 4 years old, and was fully shod by the age of 5 years old. Whiskey has been in some sort of training, and even used as a lesson horse over the timespan of 13 years before he and I met.
At the time, I had very little experience other than picking horse feet. I knew he and I were going to have to take it back to basics, which despite his intimidating size, I was confident he and I would collaborate. He quickly fractured my confidence and my right foot within the first week of our introduction... his size, arrogance, pushy ways, and the fact that he's a ginger(I got a thing for gingers) were all enticing factors that had my "GAME ON!" glowing bright.
Whiskey has been so incredibly significant in my life, and this picture, this hoof is a humbling reminder that no matter the set backs, or rough terrain... Whiskey and I will get through it together.
