Slight uodate - girl not boy.
Meet Milk. We are pretty sure Milk is a female and seems healthy. Unfortunately we have no way to know how old she is.
I believe we are ready to start looking for a new home for her. She seems healthy. Just needs the right care. She still has some hair loss from the removal of all the knots.
Now before anyone thinks they need a chinchilla, they are not friendly. They hate being held. They are rodents which means they p**p wherever. And a lot.
They are very sensitive to heat - this is critical. They need hay, chew blocks, weekly dust baths and chinchilla food pellets. Sugary items are bad. No fruits. They need a large enclosure to run and need ledges to jump to. And remember me mentioning p**p? Well they can do that as they jump around.
I am not going to sugar coat their care. We need a permanent new home for him, not one that is upset at they mess they make.
If you or someone you know may be a good fit for Ms. Milk, send them our way.
Thank you so much for your support.

Seven years ago, we see a Craigslist ad for 2 young ferrets with one having some mobility issues. They got them from someone else who said their cage fell over and the collars on the ferrets got caught in the bars. The girls hung for an unknown amount of time before the owner found them. They couldn't afford a vet so this second person got them. Who in turn did not take them to a vet. The sable could walk most of the time ok, they said. But the other one fell over and got caught between the cage and inner ramps all the time, they said.
We were able to talk them into surrendering so we could get them to a vet.
Our first time seeing these 6 month old ferrets struggle to walk was heartbreaking. At the vet the next day we find all injuries were healed but forever damaging. The sable had back damage and the champagne had a blown inner ear, blown out pupil and damaged neck. We couldn't do much other than physical therapy along with steriods to lessen the muscle swelling.
The sable we named Olivia Wobbles. The champagne became Scarlett Wobbles. Olivia lived to age 5 and Scarlett is trying to live past age 7.
The reason we hate collars so much as they are simply a deadly fashion item. They don't break because a ferret does an alligator roll instead if pulling straight back. Plus most take a ton of force to break. Some I have gotten in even I cannot pull apart.
The girls did not have to suffer like this. Please never EVER use a collar.

This is why I keep doing rescue. These funny little animals who bring me joy.
Templeton and Crook are the most matched set we have ever seen. Just turning 3 this year and need a special family to spoil them.

BTW - the video is before cleaning could start. They were just so excited.
Thank you for all your help to keep us going.

It's frustrating that SquareSoft(?) Trade/whatever, took over our domain. Now I have to figure out how to get into the domain I own. Again.
For now, I have our free Google site still working. Which the .org did redirect to. I just don't understand why I can't get a .org site to look like the Google one.
Grrrrr.

Please welcome 1 year old Veronica who is said to be a severe biter. She is super tiny. Hopefully in the coming weeks will see if she integrates into a group to help her.
Queen Keres bites me all the time but nit as hard as she used to. Maybe she can help Veronica.

Occasionally we do take in non-ferrets. From unique breed dogs to more unique small animals.
Please welcome yhis white chinchilla. I am not familiar with their color patterns but it is not an albino. Unknown gender. Unknown age. Very dirty but not too thin. Rescued from an unsafe house. We will look to either rehome or transfer to a rescue more equipped for chinchillas.

Please welcome Zala and Keela. Their owner drove 5 hours to us as all the shelters are full across the West Coast.
Zala has clear signs of adrenal and Keela just turned 6. So here they will stay unless we find a foster home for them.
These 2 are a result of housing and job loss.

Crook and Templeton show off the ball pit. These boys are a lot of fun but Crook still has some trust issues. They are looking for a home where they can interact with adults or older children. They are just turning 3 years old this year. Let us know if you know of someone who could give them that final home. Thank you

Quick Hammerlock video. I have to be quiet or he stops playing. He loves this ball pit. It is a toddler/baby pool you can fold up. He loves rolling around in it.

Our Story

We are a nonprofit dedicated to the education of prospective owners and current owners of ferrets. We also rescue and work to rehabilitate behavioral and sick ferrets along with finding homes for unwanted or "kicked out of their homes" ferrets. We are considered a no-kill shelter as we do not put to sleep current residents to make room for more. We cannot save them all but for those that are terminal, we are able to provide a loving, safe, pain-free last days. Our group is still in the working on gathering members so please stand by as we are "under construction". We have ferrets available, ferrets in rehab and can discuss surrenders on a case-by-case basis. No surrender fee just the cage they were in (if not "free-range"), their bedding and what is left of their food. Some discussions can also be made about temporary housing/board until your situation improves. We welcome visitors just wanting to know more about these funny little creatures. Along with the ferrets we also have several different cage styles in our ferret room so that you can see what may work right for you. If we can just teach you how to find the right ferret and their proper care, that is one less ferret that has to end up in a rescue/shelter situation. If you would like to become part of our rescue network, just let us know. We can discuss possible foster homes and other ideas to help with our group.

We are currently located in Spokane Valley WA, but assist ferret owners anywhere in the Inland Northwest.

Note that because the rescue is inside my private home, you must call or text me at 509-599-3327, to come visit. I work during the week so weekends and federal holidays I am usually home. We look nothing like the local animal control or humane society. Our ferrets our housed as if they were my personal pets.
