Bouncy group this morning.
Keres now plays and seeks out interactions from me. She arrived in March as a fear biter. Females are always harder to regain trust. But my plan is always to ignore them until they come to me. It also helps to have very friendly ferrets around the fearful one so they can remain calm.
Always a challenge but the reward of a happy ferret is worth it.

We have been very busy with a lot of non rescue chores so I apologize for the lack of updates.
We are down to one healthy ferret eligible for adoption. Levi would need to be adopted to a home with another ferret and no small children as he loves to chew on hands/arms in play.
I would love to place him and Draco together but Draco has a history of sever biting so only eligible for an experienced home. He is a thick boy.
Keres is another young ferret who would be adoptable if she didn't bite so much. Not in play but a fear reaction. She has gotten so much better but I would never fully trust her. Hands make her nervous so when surprised, she lashes out.
We are also gearing up for the last fundraiser yard sale set for September 6-7. Some exciting items will be there and if not all sold, will be listed on Satin Angels Auction.

The kids are so happy. We have a belated thank you to Satin Angels Auction for their fundraiser last month. They raised a couple hundred dollars to help with our large electrical repair bill.

This morning was a quick snuggle with the wild bunch before getting ready for the electricians to arrive and repair some wiring. Crossing our fingers it goes smooth and with little electricity down time. It is supposed to be over 100 degrees today.

Another miserable hot day in Spokane. 102 in the forecast. I know other places scoff at us but this is not typical heat for our area. We are in the northwest where it is normally cooler.
At least the kids are staying cool. We have an electrician coming out today to see how we can fix other parts of the house. I am grateful that we have the current AC units going.

I am trying to find a way to set up my phone to record while I work but am failing. The group of mainly adoptable ferrets is doing well. This is a mix because some have adrenal and some have behavioral issues.

Main ferret room is kind of quiet this morning. We have only 3 ferrets who are eligible for adoption at this time. Sadly most of our recent intakes have health issues.
Which means we have more available to foster. If interested please PM us. You must be able to transport the ferret back to us for medical care and pick up food from us. These ferrets usually are older with health issues.

Pooptopia enjoying breakfast and a romp through the tubes. The clear tube is a heavy duty vinyl one we had donated. I believe they use them for dryers or hvac or vacuum systems. It is really nice.

Please welcome the pack of 4 from Aberdeen. The owners become homeless and wanted to make sure they went to someone who could provide medical for them
The dark eyed white girls are Tina and Seraña. The chocolate sable male with the obvious adrenal tail is Bowser. The poor boy with the badly healed broken leg is Hammerlock. The owners have had the boys for about a year and his leg was healed before they got him. He will see our vet this week to see if there is anything we need to do.
Because of the health issues, they will be staying here unless we find a foster home.

Sorry for the lack of posts. I haven't been feeling too great. However the ferrets are doing well. That is the important part.
This is our main ferret room with mostly adoptable ferrets. Most are younger in here. With the exception of Keres, they are friendly. She has trust issues still. It will take an experienced ferret owner to fully gain her trust. While she rarely bites me now, she will strike at other people. Quick movements still set her off.

It has been a bit since I showed a cage setup video. One thing I cannot stress enough is providing hiding spots with blankets EVERYWHERE. I see so many posts of ferrets in a barren cage that it make sme want to cry. They get so stressed out. Also, don't get corner litter boxes. Only the large square low entry ones work.
Ferrets are not cheap so if a $20 litter box is going to break you, don't get a ferret. If you took in one in an emergency, then reach out to a rescue for help. We usually have extra supplies to help out in an emergency.
