The devastation in California is unimaginable. Our hearts are broken for everyone impacted by the fires. Our respect goes to the firefighters and first responders who ran INTO the fires to save people and animals ❤️
A life-changing mission: Meet the woman helping injured pets thrive.
For many of us, pets are more than just animals; they are family. We will do whatever it takes to ensure their happiness and well-being. In Washington and Idaho, where an estimated 60-70% of people have pets, providing adequate care when our furry friends are injured can sometimes feel overwhelming. Traditional healthcare for pets isn’t always affordable or accessible.
That’s why Angela Boncz decided to create Specialized Pet Solutions, a business focused on building and fitting orthotics and prosthetics for pets.
This is Angela’s story and the story of Diesel, a four-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer and Terrier mix.
Diesel tore his CCL, the canine equivalent of a human ACL, about five months ago. Diesel’s injury left him, a normally athletic and energetic dog, feeling depressed and lethargic. But his family had hope that a custom brace would restore his mobility and spirit.
That hope led them to Specialized Pet Solutions, where Angela Boncz designs and creates braces for animals of all shapes and sizes.
Angela Boncz began her career helping humans, graduating from an orthotics and prosthetics technical program at Spokane Falls Community College.
But everything changed when she adopted a dog in need. “The surgery my dog needed was beyond what I could afford,” Boncz explained. “So, I decided to try making a brace myself. It worked, and that was my lightbulb moment,” said Boncz.
She began crafting braces for pets while working as a subcontractor for other companies. Then, in 2017, a chance encounter solidified her new career path. Boncz said, “I rescued a three-legged miniature pony,” she recalled. “That’s when I knew this was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.”
Specialized Pet Solutions serves a wide variety of animals, from traditional pets like dogs to farm animals. On average, the company creates 10-15 braces per week, though the workload can v
The team at Specialized Pet Solutions is excited to share our message with KREM 2 News viewers thanks to photojournalist Dave Somers. Dave followed our work with Diesel, a German Shorthaired Pointer with the cutest face you can imagine! Diesel tore his CCL. That’s the canine equivalent of our ACL. But he’s sporting a brand-new stifle brace instead of facing expensive and invasive surgery. Diesel's mom is as excited as we are to see his progress. "I wish I had gone sooner,” C. Fermo said. “I’m excited to see the improvement in our pup's healing and how much more active he will be able to be!” Thank you, Diesel and Dave! We can’t wait to see your progress, Diesel, and Dave's story on KREM 2 News. Learn more about Specialized Pet Solutions at our website: https://specializedpetsolutions.com/.
Hang on, world! Gracie's out and about and picking out the perfect Christmas gift for herself. It’s hard to believe about four months ago, vets removed Gracie's right "chicken wing" leg and partially amputated her left leg because of a debilitating congenital disability. Specialized Pet Solutions owner Angela Boncz built her a prosthetic, and Gracie is on the go. It turns out all Gracie really wanted for Christmas was a chance to live her best life. But that super-sized stick she’s carrying? That’s just frosting on the cake. Learn more about Specialized Pet Solutions on our website: https://specializedpetsolutions.com.
Hannah Montana’s humans didn’t think they would ever see her kicking her heels as she prepared to celebrate her sixth birthday. “Getting her to this point has taken a lot of work, creativity, and persistence,” wrote Jay and Kristen from Ziggy’s Refuge in North Carolina. Hannah needed surgery and special braces because of her mobility problems. But when the first set of prosthetics failed, Hannah’s humans turned to Specialized Pet Solutions. She became one of our first pig clients, but it worked so well that our team now makes prosthetics for many of their rescue animals. We’re thrilled Hannah Montana is living her best life! Happy belated birthday from all of us in Spangle. Learn more about Specialized Pet Solutions on our website: https://specializedpetsolutions.com/.
Welcome to a rousing game of keepaway between Baby Ella and Specialized Pet Solutions owner Angela Boncz. Angela fitted Baby Ella with braces after she was born with a condition we would call knock knees. Baby Ella won this round, thanks to some help from Angela’s two left feet.

Gracie's got her groove on, but Honey Cat is none too thrilled. We grabbed this video less than four months after vets removed Gracie’s right “chicken wing” leg and partially amputated her left leg because of a debilitating birth defect. After she healed, her human and Specialized Pet Solutions owner, Angela Boncz, built a prosthetic for her. Now, there’s no keeping Gracie down! Gracie's living her best life with Angela at their Spangle ranch and business. While Honey Cat’s busy teaching Gracie, who’s in charge, we’re thrilled at Gracie’s spirit and determination as she plays with complete puppy abandon. It’s a great celebration of life and second chances just in time for the holidays.
"Aspyn is absolutely loving the extra protection and strength the brace provides! She's just as rough on that leg now as the other one and seems super confident on it. Thank you guys so much for your help!" ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Learn more about Specialized Pet Solutions here: https://specializedpetsolutions.com/.
The team at Specialized Pet Solutions says goodbye with hearts filled with gratitude and love for an Alaskan Klee-Kai's indomitable spirit.
We shared Riley’s story with you earlier this year. About seven years ago, surgeons amputated Riley’s leg at what we would recognize as her wrist. That’s because the dog developed gangrene from an incorrectly applied cast.
We met her human, Evelyn Treacy when she launched a nationwide search for a prosthetic so Riley could run and play again.
Finally, she stumbled upon Specialized Pet Solutions' owner, Angela Boncz. “I flew there with Riley, pleading for her to please help this dog. Angela measured her and did a cast, and we went in a few days later, and Riley could walk,” said Evelyn.
And just like that, Evelyn and Angela started a seven-year relationship all aimed at giving Riley a shot at her best life. We followed Riley’s progress through Evelyn’s Instagram page called henrymatilda and celebrated life with Riley and her other dogs.
Then came the update we hoped never to see.
“It is with great sadness but with equally great gratitude for the joy and love with which she filled our lives that we announce the passing of our beloved Riley.
She beat all odds, surviving throat cancer and an amputation… but it was a severe case of aspirational pneumonia (that her compromised immune system could not tolerate) that took Riley from us. We are broken. 💔”
Fly high, Riley, the Alaskan Klee-Kai. We were honored to spend time with you and Evelyn. We remind ourselves of Evelyn’s words: “When everything seems so dark, and all hope is lost, there is always tomorrow.”
"I ordered a prosthetic leg for my dog, Ginger, who lost her paw due to a hoarding and breeding situation. Initially, I was hesitant because I wasn’t sure she would adapt to it; however, her back and hips were curving from her limp, so it was time for a change. It took about half an hour for her to try to take the prosthetic off before she realized she could rely on it. She was off to the races once she got the hang of it! Ginger is now part of the pack during our walks—no more stroller for her! Seeing her running freely and exploring her surroundings brings me immense joy. She can easily navigate uphill and downhill on grass, rocks, and pavement. The prosthetic leg fits her comfortably, offers excellent traction, and the elbow joint works perfectly. Plus, when she runs, her back is much straighter. Overall, it was a worthwhile investment that significantly improved Ginger's life. I am thankful to Specialized Pet Solutions for their exceptional work! They got it right the first time, and their staff has been excellent." — Robin Visintin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Learn more about Specialized Pet Solutions on our website: https://specializedpetsolutions.com/ 👈
