We were thinking yesterday at a meeting; we get sponsorship dollars from Keweenaw and Houghton Counties but also get support from Ontonagon and Baraga Counties in the same way. So we decided that it would only be fair to open the 2025 Featured Artist Program to students from all four counties; BHK&O! After all, the Keweenaw Peninsula and the Copper Country are located within all four counties! With that...

"The 'Featured Artist Program' is now open to Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, & Ontonagon County students and homeschoolers grades 8th-12th (ages 13-19)."

Art pieces should be created in “portrait orientation” on “letter size” paper (8.5” x 11”) with full-bleed (make sure work goes to the edge of the paper). Digital work is to be created in the same orientation and size with a minimum resolution of 400 pixels per inch.

The deadline for the 2025 CopperDog ‘Featured Artist Program' is December 31st, 2024! Submissions should be e-mailed to as a photo/scan.

Artwork should be original, and include "CopperDog 2025" somewhere on the piece. Along with your submission please attach a short bio of yourself including your name, age, grade, school, and contact information. Any form of media can be utilized, but it should be themed around the sport of sled dog racing.

The finalist will be voted upon by the CopperDog Board during the first weeks of January. The chosen artist be presented with a commemorative letter for their art portfolio, and some CopperDog souvenirs.

The Featured Art will be the 2025 official race poster and each race official will also be wearing the artwork on a badge. The Featured
Artist will be invited to be present at the start ceremony in downtown Calumet. CopperDog will retain the exclusive rights over the art and control how it is used, reproduced, distributed, and/or displayed.

We look forward to seeing what the young artists of Houghton and Keweenaw will present. Questions? Feel free to contact the CopperDog Board at .

Good luck and thank you for supporting CopperDog!

Sincerely, The CopperDog Board of Directors
