Are you looking for double the love, purrs, and playful antics? Meet Moxie and Floyd, a bonded pair of kittens who are ready to fill your home with joy and companionship.
They are in a foster home and officially ready for their next chapter.
Moxie is a 5-month-old tabby princess with a heart full of love. This sweet girl is the perfect blend of playful and cuddly. She’ll keep you entertained with her curious nature, then curl up in your lap for snuggles. She’s a confident little adventurer who is happiest when she’s by your side—or by Floyd’s!
Floyd is a 9-month-old orange male with a heart as big as his purr. He’s a little smaller than other kittens his age, but that just makes him extra special. Floyd faced some health challenges as a baby, which stunted his growth, but it didn’t slow down his love for life. He’s playful, affectionate, and thrives with Moxie’s companionship. She’s his best friend, protector, and the one who keeps his spirits high.
These two share an unbreakable bond and spend much of their time playing or cuddling. Moxie helps Floyd feel secure, while Floyd’s feisty nature makes him the perfect match for her playful energy. Together, they’ll bring endless laughter and love to their forever home.
Moxie and Floyd are looking for an adopter who understands the value of their bond and will give them the safe, loving home they deserve—together.
They have both been fixed and vaccinated, and are ready to be adopted. If you are interested, please fill out an application online and call the shelter at 715 635-4720 for more information on this special pair. ❤️❤️🐈🐈

🐈 Just in time for Christmas.......
Myra is a young to mid-adult cat with a lot of personality. She's a little reserved but will come over for petting once she gets to know you and is comfortable with you. She is also one of the best biscuit makers you will ever see! This girl loves the sunshine and loves being out on the shelter's patio in warm weather. She hides from dogs and probably should be in a home with no other cats. Come and see Myra - She will be your new best friend!

Gabby!!!
Gabby loves to go out on the longline, but all she wants to do is watch the scenery and get some pets from her friends!
She would love to sit on your porch with you to watch the sunrise while your drink your morning coffee and read the paper. If you do that, that is!
Gabby also loves to practice using her nose to hunt for treats in the grass, if she gets tired of that she will just roll around in it instead!

History of the WCAHS Washburn County Area Humane Society (WCAHS)
The Washburn County Area Humane Society (WCAHS) was established in March 1994 and incorporated in 1995 as a 501(c)(3) private, non-profit corporation. In 2000, the shelter located at 1400 Cottonwood Ave. was officially opened. It was constructed as a result of the fund raising efforts of many volunteers with the 1.21 acres of land given as a gift by the city of Spooner. In March 2017, our shelter was destroyed by a fire. We purchased a building at 1300 Roundhouse Road, remodeled it, and moved to the new shelter in July 2018.
WCAHS is the official pound for stray animals in Washburn County but also provides shelter on an average to hundreds of homeless animals annually.
We advocate animal population control and offer spay/neuter assistance to qualifying fixed or low income families through our S.N.A.P. (Spay and Neuter All Pets) program. We also see that every animal adopted from WCAHS is spayed or neutered and vaccinated before they go into their new home.
WCAHS operates on an annual budget of $131,634 (2018) and relies primarily on funds donated by individuals with some assistance from the County, cities and townships for the strays. The money we receive is used to help feed and care for the animals, provide any necessary medications and medical procedures and for the general operating costs of the building. Donations can be designated for a specific category such as the S.N.A.P program, building addition, memorial or “in honor of” and the Chester Fund which is used to help shelter animals requiring special medical treatment.
WCAHS has a staff of a manager and seven part time employees. In addition we rely heavily on volunteers who give their time to walk dogs, play with cats, assist with shelter duties such as cleaning, folding laundry, yard work and assisting with the many fund raising activities throughout the year, just to name a few. WCAHS also has a foster care program where qualified individuals/families can volunteer to care for an animal until the animal finds a permanent home. Any person interested in volunteering or fostering is encouraged to contact the shelter to learn more about any of these opportunities.
WCAHS works closely with the Washburn County Dept. of Social Services, County Health, Sheriffs Department, Spooner and Shell Lake Police Departments. It is a member of the Wisconsin Federated Humane Society.
