Building my own Urban Farm
Late last July I logged onto youtube as I normally do and within a few mintues I was watching a video on how to make money from your own yard. So after watching nearly 20 hours of differnt videos, I decided to persue it. With help and support from my Wife and her Mother Linda I set out to begin a journey and I had no idea the amount of work that was in store. Over the next few weeks we moved into august of 2017, by this time I had layed out where I wanted the farm to be and got aproval from Linda and had begun to put all 42 of my fence posts in. I dug each post hole by hand to a depth of two feet, took me nearly two weeks to complete my fence but once it was done, I was able to grasp what working for yourself feels like and how rewarding it can be to complete something you set out to do. It has also taught me that hard work does pay off. Once the fence was done my father in law provided the farm with a tiller to began to break ground.
The very next week my wife and I went to the courthouse to file a fictious name and Crucial Farms Urban And Fresh was born. In the time since then, I have finished buliding and constructing all of the infostucture that the now well over 300 hours of youtube “university” :) I have watched has taught me. I have learned from great urban farmers from all over the world and have combined several of there techniques to create my own urban farm right here in Fredericksburg Virginia. From harvesting and storing of rainwater used to water the plants to learing to make good soil from natural means and good compost and using no pesticides or growing supplemts of any kind at all. So this Brings us to now where we are open for our first year of business, things are growing great :) and we have made some sales and some friends and have learned so much our heads hurt.
